If I wanted to amp up the Elvis factor I could go with a belt like this and a pair of silver and white sneakers

Ooo good idea

Haha yes! I favor jumpsuits for conferences and full-events, so I’ve grown used to strategically hanging onto the sleeves.

I’m going to wear it for a talk at a TTRPG con next weekend!

I like it, and it is my favorite belt in general, but I think it would be nicer with a navy one that ties in with the collar and the detailing on the fabric design. I have some blue boots to go with it as well.

Oh also, the belt is just a placeholder till I get one that matches better

Sounds a little Transatlantic-y to me, but accents and pronunciation aren’t my strong suit!

Valerie Fridland just came out with a book on accents called Why We Talk Funny: The Real Story Behind Our Accents (which I’ve only just started, but her books are always exceptional).

This was such a brilliant show! If you're at all into etymology and Rob does more live shows treat yourself to an excellent time - you deserve it. And, until then, look up 'RobWords' and 'Words Unravelled' on YT while you wait 8-)

I also love this one!! I heard it recently from my friend who has a pet bird. It must be making the rounds.

I’m forever in awe of my dear friend and Words Unravelled cohost @robwords.bsky.social, who brought down the house—twice!—for a full house at London’s Bloomsbury Theatre last week with the help of our editor/musical mastermind and pal @martynmnw.bsky.social.

More photos and such to come!

A fun video in your...
Idiom, sir?
IDIOM!!

(my fav. moment: when @robwords.bsky.social followed & addressed a red herring of what he assumed @jesszafarris.com was about to say regarding the meaning of red herrings before she got to to the next part of the story)

This episode is the cat's ass!

Thanks! There’s one in particular that addresses the man himself and how he inspired the word, probably the last one.

Wit, unker, git: The lost medieval pronouns of English intimacy Tales of love and adventure from 1,000 years ago reveal a dazzling range of now-extinct English pronouns. They capture something unique about how people once thought about "two-ness".

Did some readings for this little BBC piece on extinct English pronouns www.bbc.com/future/artic...
