part of coming back to a piece that you’ve left for a while is having to accept that the work that you could have completed if you finished it back then is no longer available and dissection/reinterpretation must be made to create a work that you can release as you are now

as unreal - the player is playing a game and the runner will just reboot into another shell

marathon's fiction of the runner being a disembodied consciousness placing itself into disposable shells aligns them with the position the player is in. each death is real for both the player and the runner insofar as they lose all their carried items but equally as unreal -

i had been bouncing off of stonetop but finally found my way into it (probably just started reading it at the wrong time) and i love a game that tells me on a 6- to “chuckle grimly and start thinking about threats”

okay but gojo in jjk is a great example of tying an important and fairly abstract lore point and theme (who is and what makes the ‘strongest’) to a very close and easily understandable character in the actual story.

i really love listening museum audio guides, especially when they’re good ones. i’m at the national gallery in london and i really enjoyed how they brought in people who have an interesting relationship to the work they’re talking about and they introduce them at length
