Petition to move Mother’s Day to like, late September or something.

Yesterday a friend texted me that there was a shooter at FSU followed by “my girls are safe.” I checked in with her all day and then considered texting a different friend who was at VT to see if she had advice for my friend’s daughters abt experiencing a school shooting and omg what are we doing???
I’m just saying, if kindergarteners can eat lunch at 10:30am so can I.
I’ve been listening to The Orphans of Davenport and it has occurred to me (much later in my career than it should have) that “Terman’s Termites” wasn’t a longitudinal study about outcomes for Gifted kids because he cared about outcomes for Gifted kids. It was about Eugenics.
How are we processing all of this?
Did you email your school psych friends about something weeks ago? Are they just now getting back to you? They probably went to #NASP2025 and just finished digging themselves out of the pile of referrals they got while they were gone. 🙃
We have heard of growing anxiety and concern among NASP members regarding the various executive orders issued by President Trump in the first month and a half of his second term, including the ongoing reports about a plan to dismantle the U.S. Department of Education.

Just so we’re clear: There is NO version of reality where dissolving the Department of Education isn’t a spectacularly bad idea. “But we’ll save money!” Oh right, because gutting education has always led to a stronger economy and a more successful country. My bad, my bad 🤡🤡
My son just finished his first PG baseball tournament and I have some thoughts. But I’m not trying to start drama online. But also, how are so many of the kids playing at 12u 6 ft tall?? I work at a middle school. I know what a 12yo looks like. 👀
I’ve officially shifted from French Cafe Music Playlist to Muse to get my reports done.
School Psych in Spring mode ✅
It’s been a 001 001 001 kind of day. #schoolpsychlife
When your teenager has missing assignments and you don’t know if it’s because they didn’t turn them in or if it’s because the teacher didn’t put the grade in yet and you never will
Happy to help. 😂
If it’s snowing anywhere in Florida all of Florida should get a snow day because getting out of bed in this freezing rain is absolutely not fair. 😩
I’ll be honest I don’t think this fortune cookie knows what I do for a living
My New Year's resolution is to accept my limitations and accommodate them (as long as it's not interfering with functioning or whatever).
Today I have cleaning people at my house doing alllllll the things. Including organizing my kitchen and doing laundry. It's amazing 😭
I have thoroughly enjoyed watching my fellow Floridas try to figure out how to dress professionally during the current cold snap. We have no idea what we’re doing.
Just a Florida girl with the Sunday scaries watching everyone else getting excited for an extended break because of snow days while we have to start a day early because of hurricane days. 😢
Looks like a year of shenanigans for me! 😎
The absolute struggle of having a cleaning playlist full of songs I want to dance to and an empty(ish) house. The dance to cleaning ratio is not looking good for the laundry… 🤷🏻♀️ 💃🏻
You might work in a school if it’s almost winter break, you walk into the mailroom, and there is a fresh pack of Lysol wipes in everyone’s box. Stay healthy friends!
Friendly advice for interns or early career school psychs, practice looking at parents when you are in a meeting that requires a translater. Remember you are speaking to the parent, not the translater. Look at the parent when you are speaking to them and when the translater is translating for them.
Registered for #NASP25 today! I’ve been waiting for this one for years!! Seattle is one of my favorite places and I can’t wait to hang out with some of my favorite school psychs!! I know there are so many exclamation points in this post, but I’m really that excited!! 🤓😁
I had big plans to get ahead on reports over Thanksgiving break. Instead, I enjoyed every minute of the break with my family. Today, I went back to work and caught up on all of those reports.
Turns out keeping healthy work life boundaries is real (sometimes…😉).
Looking at my upcoming schedule and realizing Thanksgiving isn’t just a time to give thanks, but also to carbo load for the nonstop activities lined up for the rest of the year.
The absolute disappointment when you actually have to take a sick day the last week before a break. 😭
Excited to be reconnecting with everyone again. Feeling that old Twitter energy and I’m here for it! 💜
During the week of November 11-15th, the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) and schools across the United States will mark National School Psychology Week (NSPW). #SchoolPsychWeek

Yes we can teach kids to breathe, but only when there’s enough air in the room for them to do so.
I think one of the biggest mistakes we are making when discussing the youth mental health crisis is making it all about the kids instead of making it about the adults, environments, and social expectations that are creating instability and uncertainty.
