Vor allem Marion hat mir in unseren Gesprächen dafür die Augen geöffnet. Sie war sowohl in der DDR, aber auch im vereinigten Deutschland eine wirkliche Bürgerrechtlerin. Die Benennung eines Platzes nach ihr hat mich sehr berührt.

Als ich 1995 für die PDS in das Abgeordnetenhaus von Berlin gewählt wurde, wusste ich sehr wenig über das Leben derer, die in der DDR in der Opposition waren. Erst durch Marion Seelig, Bernd Holtfreter u.a. aus meiner Fraktion habe ich das Land, in dem ich groß geworden bin, richtig kennengelernt.
