There is something we can do about it, though - always accept requests to review if you possibly can. You may feel not expert enough, but remember, if you say no, your replacement will probably be even less expert - if there *is* a replacement.

It is really very tricky. There isn't really much that the College can do by that point, except flag for special discussion if they feel it's resulted in one out-of-whack report having disproportionate influence.

Congratulations to all the successful applicants, commiserations with those not so lucky, and a communal sigh of relief with all that the uncertainty is over for now!

ARC says they'll announce the Laureate Fellowship outcomes tomorrow.

Again, massively overdue (originally slated for 19th May at the latest) due to "security" process changes.

ARC says Linkage Projects (LP24r2) will fiiiinally be announced tomorrow (25th June).

Announcements tend to happen around 11am AEST, but it varies.

Senior researchers, what are you doing tomorrow?

Helping DECRA applicants navigate their referee reports, that's what you're doing tomorrow.

Book in some quality time with them now. Normally reports drop around ~11am AEST.

RMS was down for maintenance for a while this morning. Gears turning perhaps...

The sort-of reason given, if accurate, would also mean they were flat-out lying to us when they initially blamed in on the caretaker period, no? Why?!?

Finally, @arc_ an update from the ARC.

www.arc.gov.au/news-publica...

Great to have some information and a timeline, and even bettet that the LP25R2 closing date is extended.

Such a weird response: caretaker is long gone. The Department of Energy, for example, started making post-election announcements in May (eg this on May 20 www.energy.gov.au/news/discoun...), so at least as far as they were concerned caretaker was done and dusted by then.

*Election “caretaker” period ENDED a whole month ago

After about a week of sending an email and a Facebook dm every day, ARC actually responded to me - but only to point me to this "update."

But then why does their network message blame the Caretaker period? Weird.

Worrying thought, though surely not possible, just pure paranoia: are they waiting for the report from the "New Plan for Research" consultation? They surely wouldn't retrospectively cancel schemes after running the whole selection and application process?

No update from ARC about ongoing Linkage Projects & Laureate Fellowships delays.

On 29th May, ARC told @jsresearchpro.bsky.social they couldn’t "provide further detail”👇

Remember, they told us to wait for an update a month ago. Nothing since.

Seems so out of touch. Just explain what's happening!

...and if the ARC Board did not approve before the anticipated dates...why on Earth not?

Is ARC breaching its own legislation right now?

ARC Act says grant outcomes have to be announced within 21 days of Board approval👇

Outcomes for Linkage Projects & Laureate Fellowships were anticipated weeks ago. If ARC Board approved before anticipated dates, they should've been announced by now.

I just don’t understand why they can’t communicate with researchers about this stuff. Why?!?

10 months ago 1 1 0 0

If this *is* the reason, then their announcement that outcomes were "impacted by the recent election" seems to be at best a prevarifiction.

10 months ago 0 0 1 0

Almost 2 weeks since ARC's "update" on delays to Linkage Projects & Laureate outcomes.

Nothing since. Not even a schedule for announcements.

"We are aware this affects applicants". OK. But it also affects applicants for next round (apps due 25 Jun). Also affects industry partners; EOFY is coming.
