It legit makes me so happy that Taylor Swift is so happy and so many people are so happy for her too. It's like we all got and gave the 22 hat to each other.
I get the environmental concerns, but I do not understand what the alternative is for her or any other very famous woman. These women consistently get death threats and have stalkers on any given day they are contending with.
That would be dangerous for her and everyone at the airport. She has to fly for her job, the same as countless other people in the world. And especially as a famous woman living within patriarchy, she has to think about safety in ways that men do not. All famous women do.
also, as a side note, to all the people who keep criticizing her re using a private jet like, what do they think she should do??? she is one of the most famous people on the planet. she can't just go to an airport and catch a flight.
I think her fame will be like this (if not bigger) for the rest of her life. We will be getting news alerts about her from major news outlets unless, you know, they are all taken down by fascism and everything becomes state propaganda.
I was mainly talking about her in a US context, but such a good point and so interesting. I feel like that was how it was for a long time in the US too, outside of swifties, not a lot of folks knew about her, or they only knew 1 or a few of her big pop hits like Love Story or Shake It Off.
I say this because even my non-swiftie friends messaged me about the engagement. Taylor has reached a level of fame that is no longer about ebbs and flows, she has become a fixture, a constant w the general public. Honestly, it's not even about her music anymore, it is so much bigger than that now.
It will dwarf 1989's success (no shade to 1989, a truly GREAT album), but given Taylor's exponential growth re her fame and base since then, it will like nothing we've ever seen before.
I think TLOASG will blow the top off of people's expectations. It will be a HUGE massive success in every way thinkable: critically, streaming-wise, units sold, charts--EVERY THING.

Once you fully accept it as it is, then it can begin to reveal itself to you. In some ways it feels similar to reputation. Everyone thought rep was going to be something different than it was and for those who couldn't let go of that, it colored their reception of such a great album.
I wonder if TTPD didn't take as well bc people were trying to make it something it is not. You can't compare it to anything else. Not what you hoped it would be or what your fav of Tay's previous albums is. To love TTPD, you have to accept it as it is and not try and squeeze it into something else.

How can anyone not love The Prophecy??? It feels like such a fundamental song to understanding who Tay is. It should be studied and revered, not just for its musicality, but for what it represents in the Swift cannon.
Speak Now, Red and TTPD are all unapologetically break-up themed albums and I'm here for it all. I love the sadness, the bitterness, the yearning/longing, the pain, messiness, anger, love and new love. I love how even the non-break up songs are still colored with break-up-ness. I LOVE THEM.
A swiftie friend of mine said she couldn't get into TTPD bc it was "too sad" and I'm like ok, but how can you be a Taylor Swift fan if you don't like sad songs??? That's like the majority of her catalogue, no? lmao
Listening to TTPDTA all day today and I know a lot of folks didn't take to it, but damn I love this album. I love the majority of songs on it and would add some to my list of all-time-fav-TS-songs.
