Not always the developers. Sometimes it's the executives pushing for release before the product is ready. And the (responsible) developers who would push back on that are the ones most likely to get fired.

When John Roberts agrees with a Republican policy he will "conclude ... as a matter of law" he has "a solemn obligation to preserve it." If he doesn't like (most likely a Democratic) policy he will "conclude ... as a matter of law" that he needs to "stuff it in the garbage."
He pitches & hits.
This piece is incredibly important. Read the whole thing.
I wish we had an easier way to do a vote of no confidence than impeachment.
Okay, I know the fandom is aging old because the four random people at this Magic: the Gathering table all just started comparing our CPAPS.
Over just five days, the justices had decided the issue. Even as they debated the Obama plan’s possible burden on the power industry, in the entire chain of correspondence obtained by The Times, not a single justice, conservative or liberal, mentioned the dangers of a warming planet as one of the possible harms the court should consider.
Another data point in “originalism is a fraud.” So much for the law is the law we can’t think about the impact. They rail against “results oriented judging” in public but when their corporate clients make requests they know exactly what to do. www.nytimes.com/2026/04/18/u...
Today's unlikeliest vaguepost: (eyeroll) I have done many unusual things in my life, some of them not great, but *I have NEVER washed my underwear in a hotel coffeemaker.* FFS WASH IT IN THE BATHROOM SINK & HANG IT ON THE TOWEL RAIL LIKE A NORMAL PERSON! ...And then dry it with the hair dryer! 😅
And I'm so glad you did! Because now I finally have a face (that's not Leeroy's) to put with you!
Thread. 🫤
The Robert Johnson recording in question. It’s so clear I feel like I time-traveled.
A flatscreen display on a "smart" water fountain, demanding to be reconnected to the internet.
In 1999, I was playing a decker in Shadowrun, and tried to distract a guard by hacking a water fountain to overflow, and my GM said "why would a water fountain be on the network? That's fucking stupid. No you can't try."
Well it's 2026 and I just want you to know, Phil, that I FUCKING CALLED IT!
Oof. Sunscreen. New I forgot to pack something. Ah well, I don't plan to be outside much, and I can always run to the store after I check into my hotel room.
I'm sorry, two guys credibly accused of sexual assault and attempted rape (at the time of their confirmation hearing) managed to get confirmed.
In theory I suppose the nomination and confirmation process is supposed to be rigorous enough that there wouldn't ordinarily be a need to remove a justice, but that clearly doesn't work since a guy credibly accused of sexual assault and attempted rape managed to get confirmed.
That is a large part of the problem. In the US we have no practical way to remove any of our highest leadership in any branch of the government. Combine that with lifetime appointments and you get this.
You would get so many more amazing books if you had Universal Basic Income. Not even the most dream-scenario AI could compete with the creativity of a world of authors no longer afraid of affording rent.
It's time to put grampa Clarence out to pasture.
If there's a first step towards fixing our government it's to do away with lifetime appointments, set term limits, and upper age limit on our top government position.
I have to take a training in GenAI for work and it's making me nauseous.
Don't get me wrong, machine learning has a lot of potential scientific applications, but some of this slop is especially awful.
s 1d Threads Hey, question. Does that "go touch grass" advice makes sense to you? Because (a) I get a rash when I touch grass and (b) when I touch something like grass that doesn't give me a rash, I really hate how a bunch of little points of contact feel. And while certainly these are distracting, "get out of your head by having unpleasant physical sensations" seems like weird advice. So if touching grass works for you, is it... pleasant? What does it do for you? 1/2 • 49 Q 100 > 4 Top v View activity > a 1. To clarify, I was asking because a several people have reported literally touching grass being obnoxiously good advice, much like not using your phone before bed, drinking water, going for little walks. I like to follow advice other people have received and then reported worked for them. Peer-reviewed advice if you will. 2. Have not personally been told to go touch grass until this thread, which is a special kind of internet-exclusive irony 3. I'm glad that grass is nice too touch for most! 2/2 5
Amazing things happening over on Threads.
Nothing says “we value our customers” like using automated systems to treat everyone who enters like a criminal because you’re too greedy to pay employees to run registers or offer basic customer service.
And that is a decent argument for why he might not have recognized it at the time, but he had 20 years to figure out what it was.
That's the problem with you establishment types: you'll go to any lengths to justify not expecting better from our elected officials.
Yeah! Totally know way anyone could know that that tattoo was the second most common symbol associated with the Nazi SS for almost 20 years.
The destruction of all search engines is the tech story of the last decade imo
This is Sadie. She was finally reunited with her human, astronaut Christina Koch, after her mom’s voyage around the moon took her the furthest any human has ever been from their dog. She can't wait to hear all about the universe. 14/10 (IG: astro_christina)
To wit, the Dishonorable Brett Kavanaugh.
I've watched a good friend of mine get steadily more right wing and regressive over the last 6 or so years and now I'm wondering how his CLE contributed to that.
Sounds like the perfect time to learn about Jury Nullification. A thing you should absolutely not do ever, especially when the prosecution is being completely unreasonable.
Better graphics are no longer a selling point in video games and it's completely broken AAA development and consoles and they have no fucking idea how to fix it.
I once had some Zoomer tell me that I didn't understand memes and I asked them what generation they thought invented the internet meme.
we live in an endless downward spiral wherein the world’s worst people learn regulation is Good Actually right after the irreparable harm
