Not an injection attack, not a 0day, not an unupdated node or forgotten cgi form. it's literally "a bunch of nodes are hitting us simultaneously" with very unbidden impact.

There is no operational security advantage to withholding that.

A DDOS is the equivalent of a bunch of people screaming in your hallway.

You can announce that a bunch of people are screaming in your hallway without saying "and this part of the wall has less insulation and therefore sounds travel farther"

at least when my old company got hit by ransomware and lied about it being a DDoS the lies came out within an hour
