We couldn’t agree more. Thank you to NM State Representative and educator Raymundo "Ray" Lara for standing up and speaking out against the latest Trump Administration's efforts to institute a federal voucher program.

TOGETHER, WE'LL WIN A BETTER FUTURE. No matter where we live or our background, educators know it is important to fund public schools and elect leaders who care about students, public schools, and families.#schoolsourstudentsdeserve

The crew from Artemis II captured our attention & hearts. This journey... so full of possibilities with a crew who brought us along with their bios and storytelling. It does not go unnoticed they are all products of public school, reminding us just how powerful the promise of public education is.
States with voucher programs are seeing rising costs, poor academic outcomes, and little accountability for how public dollars are spent.
Meanwhile, public schools are left with fewer resources and greater needs
The issue: vouchers are expanding nationwide, but decades of research show they weaken public schools, increase discrimination, and overwhelmingly benefit families already in private schools.
“School vouchers in any form put students and public schools at risk. If we truly value public education, leaders should reject them.” Bethany Jarrell, NEA-NM President
We urge Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham to reject school voucher programs.

As harmful attacks on trans people escalate, solidarity matters. Each of us can help ensure trans and non‑binary people are safe, respected, and able to thrive.
Everyone is welcome here. We’re proud to uplift and celebrate transgender people who are part of every community, including the students we serve and the educators we stand alongside.Learn more from @humanrightscampaign: hrc.im/tdov
No Kings events this weekend aren’t about political parties; it’s about priorities. Our students, our communities & our country need each & every one of us to show up in our communities large & small, urban & rural, conservative & liberal. www.mobilize.us?tag_ids=2958...
Diversity, equity, and inclusion are not just important values for our schools and public services, they are principles that are critical for private industry and for the health and strength of our democracy. Don’t walk away, recommit.
"Many studies have shown that school funding reforms that increase and equalize per-pupil dollars have positive effects on school outcomes, especially for historically underserved students."
Full and equitable funding has always been the answer.
79% of likely general election voters across the political spectrum think it's very important for schools to teach more about civics according to a Cygnal 2022 survey. #CivicLearningWeek energizes the movement for civic education as a nationwide priority. Learn more: https://civiclearningweek.org
Our schools and communities should be places of learning and belonging, safe for all. The presence of ICE undermines this mission.
We need an immediate, transparent, and independent investigation into this shooting. And we must end ICE's presence in every community before further harm is done.
Educators deserve respect—as professionals and the experts who help students learn and grow—nothing less. TAKE ACTION!www.nea.org/advocating-for-change/ac...
Combined with the incredibly high cost of higher education, fewer future educators will be able to afford to enter the profession and earn the advanced degrees that help students learn.
To add insult to injury, these new caps will force new educators—including teachers, nurses, counselors, and higher ed staff—to turn to private loans, which do not qualify for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program.
These new caps give the impression that our degrees are less valuable and less professional than other degrees. We ALL know that education is the mother of ALL other degrees.
Earlier this year, Republicans in Congress passed a tax bill along party lines that took money from Medicaid & SNAP to pay for billionaire tax breaks. The law, known as H.R. 1, also imposed new, arbitrary caps on federal loans for students pursuing graduate degrees.
Educators are professionals.
But you aren’t always treated like it. That needs to change, and we intend to ensure it does!

An insult to students and families—announced during American Education Week. Students need more support, not less.
🚨SNAP and Headstart If SNAP is shut down, over 40 million Americans will be without money for food. Of those 42 million, 40% are children and 80% are in households with a child, an older adult, or a disabled individual. So we are talking about our most vulnerable. We will see the effects of these cuts with our students, their families, and our own members-approximately 10% of ESPs and 16% of food service workers. Speaker Johnson is having a press event this morning with Agriculture Secretary Rollins. Also, 25 states, including New Mexico, sued the Administration on Tuesday over the suspension of food stamp benefits. A preliminary ruling could come later today. At the same time, more than 65,000 kids are at risk of losing their access to Head Start programs, which means families will lose access to child care. Because Head Start programs get federal grants at different times of the year so most are not yet affected by the shutdown. But this also means families may have no idea when/if their program will be affected. The program serves over 750,000 kids annually. What can you do? Click below to take action and make your voice heard. Every message sent counts, and there is strength in numbers. We can't allow SNAP benefits to lapse during the shutdown.
