🇪🇺🏳️🌈⚖️🇭🇺 A legal earthquake - CJEU finds Hungary to have violated EU law on multiple counts with its anti-LGBT+ legislation (as expected) but also for the first time in history, in an EU law-reshaping precedent, finds Hungary to violate Art 2 TEU in a self-standing manner.
Pride is resisting heteronormative domination of our lives, not settling for being "tolerated."
An article in the Times today by Kathleen Stock in which she claims, incorrectly, that ‘when the gay rights cause first got going, the ideal was toleration’.
To correct the record:
The gay rights movement I was a part of in the 1980s and 90s was not aiming for ‘toleration’.
Mere acceptance was not enough.
How would that help the isolated queer kid?
No. We wanted that child to know they would be loved and celebrated just as they were.
In light of the BBC claiming that asylum seekers are falsely claiming to be gay in order to gain asylum, here is an article about the difficulties and humiliations LGBT asylum seekers have experienced trying to prove their identities.

It's silly and wrong to act like Trump was gonna be committed to pacifist foreign policy before the Israelis blackmailed him. And, yes, it is in fact anti-Semitic. For one thing, there's evidently a section of the American military establishment who have been gagging for war with Iran for decades.
カミツレ @7korobi___8oki · Apr 13 Translated from Japanese The number of encounters with black people in my neighborhood is steadily increasing. Their skeletal structure and the way their muscles are built are on a completely different level from Japanese people. I'm slim, so if I got pinned down, it'd be over in seconds. I never imagined that violence from a foreigner would climb the ranks in my predictions for my own cause of death. I couldn't have pictured that even a few years ago. Things change when you least expect them to, huh... 小売業の者です @ponto___dog Translated from Japanese The black folks who come to my shop are always grinning, cheerful types. They hang out at the nearby family restaurant. But they're scary.
over on twitter they introduced automatic translations, which means now you can get Racism Japan™ (and the unintentional funniest tweets I've ever seen)
FWS saying they’re “quietly confident” about the draft code of practice after a meeting with Bridget Phillipson is worrying.

a trans person telling a doctor their assigned sex at birth is significantly more likely to result in their mistreatment than letting them assume cisness in 95% of cases because the average doctor does not have the care or understanding required about the nuances of trans bodies and how weve changed
Liam has reminded me of something I've been meaning to do for a while:
Why "Beauvoir" and not "de Beauvoir"?
A thread 🧵
Disgusting reporting by BBC using a tiny number of cases to suggest widespread abuse of a system which routinely denies LGBTQIA+ individuals asylum and forces them back into environments of persecution. This article massively distorts the reality of the situation. 1/

• Delivering single-sex spaces on the basis of biological sex, in NHS wards, schools, sport and everyday life by upholding the Equality Act and delivering clear instructions to public services on how to comply with their legal obligations to women and to trans people. • Keeping women's prisons for women, instructing the Scottish Prison Service to remove all biologically male prisoners from women's prisons within days of the election. • Recommit the NHS to delivering single sex wards on the basis of biological sex, and ensuring patients can request same sex provision wherever possible.

Stopped reading at “The DRA commissioned a report from Dr Emma Hilton”. Emma Hilton is the chair of the board of trustees at Sex Matters. Are there any institutions left that haven’t been captured by GC ideologues?
I’m always puzzled why so many studies attempt to measure general mental health outcomes instead of narrow it to those related specifically to gender incongruence. Mental health outcomes may well deteriorate as a result of marginalisation but that wouldn’t prove the treatment caused that.
Earth and Moon from DSCOVR NASA's Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera (EPIC) aboard the Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR) satellite captured this unique view of the Moon as it moved in front of the sunlit side of Earth last month. This view shows the fully illuminated “dark side” of the moon that is never visible from Earth. Ian Regan processed this version of the image to account for the Moon's motion. NASA / NOAA / Ian Regan
I hadn't seen this before. This is pretty remarkable.

I think we should take seriously the fact that people find it genuinely, deeply traumatic to be yelled at by people on their left. We can mock or disdain them (I've done both), and maybe losing any given one of them to X is no big deal, but in the aggregate, over time ... it's not good.
Cloisonné pin similar to the NASA logo, but reads “NOT FLAT”, with “we checked” underneath l
NASA’s Earth photos from Artemis inspired me to put this on today… 🙂
Getting lots of positive comments on it as I run errands…
It doesn’t need to have people there to be problematic IMV. This James Baldwin quote comes to mind.

I do think that fundamentally a lot of discomfort with effective altruism is because it just forces us to admit that we would in fact rather spend money on frivolities than on helping other people with necessities. But I'll admit it doesn't help that the EA world is full of eugenics-curious wankers.
Caster Semenya, a two-time Olympian with a variation in her sex traits, criticized the IOC policy discriminating against transgender and intersex women. “It’s like now we need to prove that we are worthy as women to take part in sports. That is disrespect for women."

Living a moral life in an age of bullies requires collective action; it cannot be done alone. Each of us must organize and participate in a vast network of moral resistance. From this solidarity we will grow stronger. This is what our current moment requires.

Interesting hearing David Remnick interview John Lithgow on the New Yorker podcast today and both agreed that Rowling is bafflingly cruel and prejudiced. I feel this is a normal mainstream opinion at last. (Yes you can still criticise Lithgow for accepting the Potter TV gig)
Greater Manchester Police statement: "We’ve concluded our investigation into alleged ‘family voting’ at last month’s Gorton and Denton by-election, finding no evidence of any intent to influence or refrain any person from voting."
It’s insane how hateful JKR became. I still find it very shocking.
Rowling was still tweeting yesterday falsely accusing Lin Yu-Ting of being male. She continues to do so with Imane Khelif.
So much for protecting women.
