I know what I tell moderate people when I advocate for groups who are marginalized: Meet them where they are. No, it's not the same. But what is relevant is that no group gets turned around on things by people who openly disdain them. So that's the challenge. I think it sucks, but I don't deny it.
I've been telling friends that a lot of traction could be gained simply from hewing very closely to a "we love this place, and we want to make it better for everyone" messaging. Using the framing of hero/villain, targeting something to tear down, is playing on the far right's terrain.
