I don’t - I think such laws should be focused on incitement, criminal actions and violence.
I think society should self regulate most such other incidents.
🚨 Kevin Maguire on GMB is right to raise Libya.
We removed Gaddafi, a brutal dictator, but unleashed chaos, a failed state, refugee flows across the Med, and terror blowback including Manchester.
Regime change sounds simple. The aftermath never is.
#IranWar #Iran
Using British airbases makes us less safe.
An Iranian drone has already hit an RAF base in Cyprus. This is a war of aggression by the USA and Israel regimes.
I want the Iranian regime to fall, but this illegal war will only cause more death and make that harder.
No to war!
We do not want foreign wars. Iran is a horrid theocratic state but it is down to the Iranian people not forging military to set the future of their country.
No war with Iran. No British planes in the sky!

I don’t know who needs to hear Jesse Jackson leading the kids on Sesame Street in this beautiful call-and-response reminding them that every child is somebody, but here it is
Justice - This is massive!
@YvetteCooperMP illegally prescribed Palestine Action!
Just like when the Tories tried to break the law by proroguing Parliament, this government has lost any moral leg to stand on.
Their authoritarianism and lies know no bounds.

Pleased for @greenparty.org.uk who now are the only creditable alternative to Refom but gutted for my country that our Prime Minster is so petty and authoritarian that he personally turned up to block someone who might be better than him from getting into parliament- it’s clear today Labour is dead.
Policing should always be led locally. We see in the USA how national law enforcement- away from ordinary people and communities can cause more harm than good. A national police service must not have power to override local policing decisions.

To be fair, @russell-moyle.co.uk put it quite well when he said that "every billionaire is a policy failure". Nobody needs such an obscene amount of money.

Climate justice means social, racial, and economic justice too. We need to tackle the issues that matter day-to-day for people too.
Lloyd @russell-moyle.co.uk on why he joined the Greens.

@russell-moyle.co.uk on the reason he decided to leave the Labour Party for the Green Party.
While @ukhomeoffice.bsky.social proposes new powers to shut down free speech/peaceful protest, my local mosque was set on fire last night, two worshippers fled for their lives.
Instead of divisive crackdowns, why won’t Shabana Mahmood invest in community cohesion to stop it happening?
I agree with @amnestyuk.bsky.social
When any government arrests peaceful protesters trying to stop a genocide, it has gone horribly wrong and slipped into bullying authoritarianism.
There is no justification. This proscription must be reversed or terrorism laws risk total disrepute.
A blast from past when our moral position was clear. Now more than ever a full embargo, immediate recognition of Palestine, opening of humanitarian and food supplies, full withdrawal from Gaza and West Bank, and an end to genocide & apartheid is the only honourable position.
100k-200k people turned out to march at Budapest Pride yesterday, more than ever before. They did so despite the threat of “legal consequences” from Viktor Orbán.
It was the biggest protest in Hungary since the fall of communism in 1989. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

We ARE becoming strangers — not because of migrants, but because of insecure work, (anti-)social media, lack of shared spaces and low wages preventing socialising.
Bring back youth clubs, fix community centres, support workers. Invest in our country — don’t scapegoat migrants.
WhatsApp messaging exchange: Dame Angela Eagle: Let's meet about this when we get back from Easter recess to decide a way forwards - the ruling is not as catastrophic as it seems but the EHRC (Equality and Human Rights Commission] guidance might be & there are already signs that some public bodies are overreacting Chris Murray: Definitely agree, a meeting early next week would be good. Steve Race: I thought that the EHRC Chair on Today [saying the ruling meant trans women could not use single-sex female facilities or compete in women's sports] was pretty appalling this morning Sir Chris Bryant Agreed

Sussex farmer Stephen Carr used to have an EU flag sign at the end of his drive.
It was vandalised so often he gave up repainting it.
Now? He’s thinking of digging out the blue & gold paint.
Maybe this time, people will understand why.

Tightening the criteria will likely cut it for the 41% who are able to work with support of PIP and less likely to cut for those that can not work. Forcing those that can work with a bit extra support out of work will cost the tax payer more.
Disabled people are harder than everyone else because our additional costs have gone up. This is forcing more Disabled people to claim PIP, but it’s not because they’re out of work. 41% of new PIP claims in 2023 were from people who are in work, and many say that PIP helps them to stay in work.
And people wonder why building infrastructure in this country is so expensive.
When power stations were built near poor communities, no compensation was paid now they might be next to country Estates and little villages. Suddenly people think that the country should pay them compensation.
