Last thing I’ll add: “peaceful protests do nothing” gives me the same vibe as “resistance art is pointless.” Fascists would LOVE for you to believe both those statements are true.
I’m just tired of people lamenting that change is ONLY possible through violent revolution and then not offering any alternatives or willingness to do anything else productive with the means we have.
If the alternative to protest is just sitting around and waiting for the revolution to happen, why not at least do SOMETHING? Why not go out and band together with your neighbors and shout in the streets about how much you want change?
LRT; I was just talking with friends about the impact of peaceful protests (or lack of). Fascism wants you isolated, silent, powerless. Even if a No Kings protest doesn’t upheave the entire political system in a day, it’s still a way to make your voice heard and unite your community.
one thing a whole lot of us struggle with at times is feeling isolated and depressed and like not enough people care about what’s going on and I really cannot emphasize enough that going to a no kings protest helps this feeling a lot
