#Bluesky Please make new carousel mode an option rather than default setting. If posts with multiple photos don't display previews of all four images at once, especially in the case of artists, there's no point in posting multiple photos at a time knowing that the others probably won't even be seen.

"In Italy, the first translation of Stefan Grabiński’s works dates back to the early 20th century. Forgotten for over 80 years, the Polish author has been rediscovered by the translators Andrea Bonazzi and Mariagrazia Pelaia." Lux in tenebris. O percepcji twórczości Stefana Grabińskiego we Włoszech.
Really old stuff, but I don't think I've ever posted it on Bluesky. #R'lyeh, animation of a pastel drawing on black cardstock from the early '90s.
For next seven Fridays, now.
European electrical plug inserted incorrectly, with one prong sticking out
😑 It took me a while, but I finally figured out why the router wouldn't turn on.
Now I don't know whether to have another cup of coffee or go back to sleep.
Miskatonic University: did the #Cthulhu bas-relief ruin my pocket watch?
It looks like I have new "archaeological" photo-montages ready to post for the next five Fridays...

Two fake plastic eyes with pinhole pupils.
I made them by cutting up a soft plastic ball when I was 16. Since I’m a serious person, I still wear them at 58.
If you see this quote with a pic of you in glasses.
Actor Andrea Pennacchi reciting a short story by Robert Sheckley (“The Battle,” 1954) on an Italian satirical TV show, as a commentary on the White House’s attack on the Pope. This makes me feel better about my country.

What’s your favorite Bible verse? (Wrong answers only)
Noah: "And it's coming—the End of the World in Eighty Days!"
Shem: "Forty days, dad, forty. That's the Tour Around the World."
A black-and-white photomontage in the style of the late 19th century. A group of people next to a tall stone stele featuring a bas-relief of Cthulhu with circular diagrams and faded, incomprehensible inscriptions. Three women and a man are sitting on the grass at its base; another woman is standing on the right, leaning against the stele, while on the right side a standing young man is carving something into the stone with a small hammer and chisel. A cypress tree peeks out from behind the stone in the background.

I was wondering... When was the last time the copy of the Necronomicon held at the Vatican Library was made available for consultation? I think I can guess that it was on December 22, 1931—the very day of the winter solstice...

First page from "The Walker in the Cemetery" by Ian Watson, in Cthulhu's Reign (2010).
Ian Watson should also be remembered in Italy for unleashing the Lovecraft’s Great Old Ones in the Staglieno Monumental Cemetery right here in Genoa, very close to where I live. 🖤
A small black idol depicting a humanoid figure seated in the lotus position with an open book on its lap, three tentacles forming the lower part of its face, and a red ruby for its left eye.
My first #Cthulhu sculpture, created in 1988 while I was still doing my mandatory military service. Only ten centimeters tall, it has a single red stone—maybe a ruby—in place of the left eye.
My bas-relief does not actually move as it does in this animation. Or at least it doesn't when observed.
And so, the King in Orange has managed to alienate even his most ardent European supporters on the post-fascist far right...
Post your favorite film from the year you turned 18.
I suppose he doesn’t have a favorite horse, or he would have already appointed it consul.
I don’t envy future historians—if there are any left—when they have to convince students that certain things really did happen.
Author Ian Watson (b.1943) died on April 13. Watson was the author of The Embedding, The Jonah Kit, Mockymen, and the Black Current novels. He won two BSFA Awards and an Apollo Award.
"United States assures that it will not use nuclear weapons against the Vatican."
Just a sleepy Sunday repost.
