I am confident that one day we will have SkyTrain to UBC and gondola to SFU. We need to band together and fight for funding, and elect leaders who make them a priority.
If you care about these things, then @movementyvr.bsky.social is for you.

A BC Government FOI invoice dated April 1, 2026, charging $90.00 for a Freedom of Information request (ID: MSD-2026-6) seeking BC Bus Pass Program records on annual costs, registrant numbers, and program uptake rates broken down by regional district and demographic groups including low-income, senior, disabled, and Indigenous residents, covering data from January 2016 to March 2026.
We were debating whether to give up or scale down this Freedom of Information request,
but then we thought, why not turn it into a fundraiser?

Are you willing to chip in to cover the cost of this FOI request (and all the other awesome stuff we do)?

Clean trains and buses are absolutely essential to a comfortable, safe and healthy transit journey! It's unacceptable that SkyTrain janitorial staff have been facing major issues since SkyTrain switched cleaning contracts, including workers being instructed to clean washrooms with water alone. 🤢
Riders deserve clean and hygienic transit. Workers who keep transit clean and hygienic deserve the proper equipment and fair labour practices. It’s the bare minimum.
With all these fantastic initiatives, it feels inevitable that one day our cities will be welcoming for all. 💖

We loved talking with folks about transit equity and we were in great company at the community tables that included Women Transforming Cities, $10aDay Child Care, and the Centre for Civic Governance.

We had a wonderful time tabling at YWCA BC's City Shift 2.0 Wrap-Up Event a couple weeks ago! It was an inspiring evening of reflection of how we can make cities more equitable by considering different perspectives. Check out the advocacy resources from City Shift here: ywcabc.org/ywca-city...

Our lovely panelists!
Thanks to everyone who joined us last Monday for our sold-out “Unpacking Transit in Surrey” event! We’re still buzzing from the great conversations. Huge thanks to our panelists and to our event partner, Surrey Citizen.
Most of these changes remain lines on a map until the provincial government creates a powerful new funding tool for TransLink to raise the revenue it needs to not just maintain existing service, but fund new projects like these.
Movement was consulted on the plan (our own vision for the region is available on our website) and we’re pleased to see that many of our ideas were included! movementyvr.ca/bpatp/

TransLink just dropped the final version of a plan to update the transit network from UBC all the way to New Westminster, called the Burrard Peninsula Area Transportation Plan, or BPATP for short. 🧵

City of Surrey report table on 2026–2030 capital plan. Yellow highlight on "Roads & Transportation" row: $358.5M total
The City of Surrey just released its proposed 2026-2030 budget/financial plan, outlining how it will raise and spend money over the next five years.
How does this impact transit riders? Here’s what we found from our review. movementyvr.ca/surre...
There are a million transit riders in Metro Vancouver and we deserve better than to be stuck waiting in traffic and waiting for action.
This article from our volunteer @michaelhall.bsky.social is as relevant as ever!

We've been waiting YEARS for a single new bus lane. They aren't expensive, they just need signs and paint, and they could be delivered in a matter of days if they were a priority.
Disappointed but not surprised to see that the 2023 bus priority motion from @sarahkirbyyung.bsky.social has been scaled back and the 2024 bus priority motion from @christineboyle.bsky.social has been postponed.
We’re just 100 days out from FIFA. What does the @cityofvancouver.bsky.social need to do to prepare for the influx of tourism and travel demand headed to the city soon?
What do you think about these plans?
Transportation can make or break the experience for people visiting Vancouver for the first time. To avoid gridlock, we need transit to be the convenient and comfortable choice.

I am finally finished this thread on my week-long trip to Mexico! I rode SO MUCH TRANSIT. They're building a lot of it, and it's all interesting in different ways. Please read it, it took way too long to poast.
West 49th could use space reallocation to accommodate active transpo or bus lanes. It's 4 lanes wide, of which only 2 are usable because of an occasional parked car.
