Congratulations to everyone who re-enacted Pheidippides' mission to request military aid from Sparta today by running through Boston. You have done credit to the memory of the first Greco-Persian war!

(I'd *started* 80 Days many times... but the ineluctably ticking clock had always scared me off. The stress of it vanished about halfway across Asia.)
Having read Around The World in 80 Days and now finally played 80 Days to its completion, I can confidently state that the game is the definitive superior edition of the text. Not least of all due to its featuring steampunk conveyances inexplicably omitted from the original.
not now, orcas
Welcome back to earth, friends. (Sorry, we haven’t cleaned things up much since you left.)
If we stand by while the president commits clearly-threatened war crimes, we will all be to some degree culpable as a nation.
Don't put a LOT of faith in these things, but this is the list fwiw. I'm sure these are all great games programs. I'm sure ours is!

I've been fancy once or twice, I guess, but getting namedropped by a college rankings list? That's a first.
Did I spend way more of my morning than I should have inventing four different story concepts (as plot outlines) for a class activity tomorrow, because I could?
Uh.... maybe?
Dammit. Reading The Martian made me start playing the new version of Surviving Mars. Goodbye, evenings.
Ouch. That's about a quarter of Epic.
Item: Day Old Bagel
It knows nothing. It's only a day old. Can it even focus its eyes and see the looks on our faces?
There were a lot of rainbows winging back tires on the long, rain-slick road to Worcester this morning....
And if that's not the opening sentence to some brooding, psychotropic neo-noir novel, I don't know what is.
I cannot get over how insane this is.
This is a post about animal excrement and the English language.
bull$#!% = nonsense/lies
chicken$#!% = petty or cowardly
horse$#!% = nonsense/lies
dog$#!%= low quality
ape$#!% = wild
bat$#!%= crazy
Ordered above from oldest to newest: bull$#!% (1914), bat$#!% (1971).
Similarly, every time I come across a reference to Point of Sale as "POS", I immediately mentally substitute its *other* meaning.
Every time someone says "low key" while talking (which is frequently, these days), my brain's first thought is to plug Tom Hiddleston into the sentence.
ELTON: It looks like a dentist office!
RAZ: A *mental* dentist's office.
I'll be back, then you'll see.
You'll all see!
... I shout, shaking my fist, to my family as I step out the door to go and pick pizza up for dinner.
The table cell color options for OneNote are not the same between their web and native app versions and truly, friends, I cannot think of a crime less forgivable.
Speaking of sharing things, and pretty much completely at random, this free-to-all talk from last year's GDC is an absolute gem for indie / small game design wisdom.

Some s-tier advice for indie gamedevs (or maybe just all gamedevs) from the maker of my favorite game I played last year.
Has only just occurred to me the reason I’ve had extra difficulty concentrating for the last two days is that my eyes are inordinately dry.
The windows of my soul need washing.
Overnight rain froze my town into a single, all-encompassing sheet of black ice this morning. Saw kids and teens slipping and falling on their way to school, and a grown adult go down trying to salt their driveway. It was wild.
Why has it never until this very moment
struck me how deeply WEIRD the spelling of icicle is?
Upcycle, recycle, unicycle, bicycle, tricycle, spin cycle, icicle?
Happy new year, World.
Be it thy course to busy giddy minds
With foreign quarrels, that action, hence borne out,
May waste the memory of the former days.
"Pulchritude" is my "moist."
