It’s called we do a little trawling.
The secret to getting past PAs and secretaries is to talk like someone they pass through to the boss.
Using language that expects success works.
"Please can I speak to..." ❌
"I'm calling for..." ✅
"[name of contact, impatient tone]" powerful but rude
I used to be a telemarketer- our calling coach said I broke almost all the etiquette rules she'd recommend the US, but please don't stop!
"You sound so British and slightly-too-formal that you're actually getting past all the secretaries & people are listening"
So, you don’t like the way our little fictional war came out? You don’t like Rachel dead and Tobias shattered and Jake guilt-ridden? You don’t like that one war simply led to another? Fine. Pretty soon you’ll all be of voting age, and of draft age. So when someone proposes a war, remember that even the most necessary wars, even the rare wars where the lines of good and evil are clear and clean, end with a lot of people dead, a lot of people crippled, and a lot of orphans, widows and grieving parents.
Turning a big dial labelled "traumatised child soldiers" up and down, turning to the K.A. Applegate stans for approval
Yes internally we end up having build and run phases despite claiming agile, it's a funding thing
Encourage. I would say that apart from the key policy documents and team docs required by those policies, docs tend to have a lifecycle where they are maintained reasonably well until the main funding for project build ends, at which point they stagnate rapidly
This place is going to be messy and glorious

...that they can give back, that's a very important part of it.
If I spend too long in unnecessarily flat country I start to feel uneasy- the heavens are too large for me, I need edges on my sky
If you go out in public with a newborn people you don't know will stop and say things like "that's a VERY new baby!"

Child 1: Currently able to tell me about things he's looking forward to in the future, small snippets of what he did at nursery
Child 2: Does that scrunchy face mean "I have more trapped wind" or "Father why have you taken the bottle away?"
It's a funny old time of life

Option 1: Writing JavaScript is mental torture that turns you evil
Option 2: Writing JavaScript is a D&D Evil action and it shifts your alignment just like stealing from kittens
I had a really nice time today

I play at home with a little 1W amp and two cute little 1x8 cabs, which is very sensible! However there is not a lot of headroom for clean tones, and it's more "box of wasps" than "chug"
Going to a rehearsal studio tomorrow to play some very loud guitar for the first time.
Partly an early birthday treat! Partly a try before you buy on big guitar cabs and big tones.
Feels like an achievable goal
Brain really went "people would definitely call carving your initials in a tree an 'Apple note' that's so cute and wholesome"

I got so excited to think about romantic plant vandalism that for a second I lived in a world where iOS didn't exist
