Malus, which is a piece of satire but also fully functional, performs a "clean room" clone of open source software, meaning users could then sell software without crediting the original developers.

Tim Cook donated $1M to Trump’s inauguration.
He fawned over Trump and gifted him a 24-karat gold plaque (as Apple lobbied for tariff exemptions).
Apple donated to Trump’s White House ballroom.
And it removed ICE tracking apps from its stores following a demand from the DOJ.
Remember this.
What a disgusting and morally grotesque thing we’ve allowed the US to become. I knew Sandyhook happened and politicians refused to enact any meaningful gun control, that there was no mortality left in our leadership.
Moral of the story is don’t let your kids play Roblox.
Gil Duran tweet: TLDR: Fascism in response to Palantir's long fascists screed on X.
"Your Account is Suspended" Message on X
The CEO of Palantir posted a fascist manifesto on X.
I pointed out that it was fascist—which resulted in a permanent suspension from X (my second time!).
So, when you hear the tweeters complaining that BlueSky is intolerant, remember why many of us came here in the first place.
The New Deal brought power to the American South, gave my grandfather a job with the CCC (which is how he met my grandmother), and established the TVA where my mom worked until she retired, but please, do tell me how terrible FDR was.
New, from me: Take the Palantir manifesto seriously, if not literally.
It reveals that our tech philosopher kings want public money, but without public accountability. This creates a dilemma for governments unaligned with its techno-fascist vision. 🧵

Coachella is trying to wipe all of the footage of The Strokes protest set so I’m gonna post it here. The last images on the screen made me cry.
Ricardo Navarrete and his mother were detained last month at a routine appointment related to their asylum case. The high school senior’s detention has been a painful reminder for classmates and friends that President Donald Trump’s mass deportation campaign is not over.
Breaking: HHS’s ban on gender-affirming care is struck down. Rarely have I read a ruling this sharply worded.
“This case is one of a long list of examples of how a leader’s wanton disregard for the rule of law causes very real harm to very real people.”

The Fed can keep the financial plumbing working, but it can't fix a supply-side crisis. For the top 1%? Inflation's an inconvenience. For everyone else, it destroys savings, kills small businesses, and triggers the doom loop.

One piece of legislation drafted by a Leonard Leo-supported nonprofit would effectively bar cities and towns from bringing lawsuits against corporations and others when the issue is a broad public harm like climate change.
The new Trump-apologist line on Orban—“if your entrenched ruling party can lose everything in a wave election, you are not living in an authoritarian state”—is fallacious, factually wrong, and something they provably don’t believe. Unless they’re prepared to abide Trump-style abuses turned on them.
The old media regime dominated by TV and newspapers has perished, and the social media "revolution" has demonstrated its inability to fill the void left behind...now is the time for serious folks to be imagining the shape of what might come next.
But keep telling us @govbilllee’s private school vouchers aren’t coupons for the wealthy. @WilliamLamberth
I’m really getting tired of living in William Gibson’s Sprawl Trilogy.
I’m sure artificially produced diamonds play a large role here. I got a stone 4x the size for a third of the price I paid a decade ago when I upgraded my spouse’s ring for an anniversary.
The wealthiest 1% own 50% of stocks and the top 10% own 87%, per Federal Reserve.
The bottom 50% of Americans owns only 1%, but we hear about the stock market constantly in media (even NPR and MS NOW). Seems like we could hear more about the opportunity costs of not providing universal health care.
Viktor Orban accomplished so much of what the Trump movement wants to accomplish here
he ruled for 16 years and rewrote the rules in his favor
and still, they threw him out
and you know what? they did it by voting
don’t let anyone tell you voting doesn’t matter
The willing publicization of some of the more sensitive information pertaining to Donald Trump’s White House ballroom has caused federal prosecutors to wonder if he’s personally editing the court documents before they are submitted. trib.al/CxBpiJZ
Kaine: "You don't sucker punch somebody in a bar and then blame your buddies when they don't join the fight with you. If the president wanted the support of allies, he should've respected them instead of putting tariffs on their economies and trash talking them."
My column from Monday. Faced with voter anger over the state’s region-topping power bills, the Alabama Legislature knew what to do: cut the public out of the rate-setting process.
Another triumph for Alabama’s all-powerful utilities? Not necessarily, as I lay out here. There’s a flaw in the plan.
hello @rangedtouch.bsky.social I rushed to my computer after hearing the first 15 minutes of the latest Shelved by Genre because I had to make your idea real immediately
Kerry: I was part of the any number of conversations with Netanyahu.
Psaki: Pitching the US strike Iran?
Kerry: Yes, he wanted us to strike. He came to President Obama. He made a presentation to ask to strike. President Obama refused. President Biden refused. President Bush refused.

I'd really like to see leadership calling for impeachment and removal, regardless of whether they have the votes to get it done. Same way we called for marriage equality before we had the votes. A leader's job is to lead. If a genocidal threat isn't impeachable, then nothing is.
It is very important that you listen and pay attention to these numbers. Also consider, most of what Anthropic is doing here isn’t impressive or revolutionary. They’re just throwing massive amounts of compute at LLMs existing problems.
Impossible to disagree with a single word that Ben Rhodes (Obama era NSC official) is saying here:
