Funny thing about American mass media is how woke content is broadly popular, routinely pays for itself, and sometimes goes blockbuster, whereas right-wing content is a narrow niche that rarely reaches breakeven, never goes blockbuster, and usually requires immense subsidies for it to exist at all.
I think about this exact thing all the time.
Ultimately, I think Titan A.E. wanted to be The Cool One. They both wanted to be Star Wars, but Treasure Planet wanted to be the kid-friendly fairy tale adventure, and Titan A.E. wanted to be the epic saga we all remembered watching when we were kids.

I'm nobody's editor but every story about the SAVE act should include the fact that it's a solution in search of a problem.
And of course, it basically goes without saying: no Joss is a good thing. I know the members of that cast have a lot of affection for him as a creator and a friend, so it’s a good thing they went to him and got his blessing, but it’s also good that he’s not professionally involved in this one.
Obviously, this could change, but I’m going off of the version of the show they’re describing in the announcement. If they wind up telling stories post-Serenity, that would be a harder sell, but if this version of the series works, and they want to keep the story going the movie… we’ll see.
And it’s best, this could be like The Clone Wars, and end up being a really unexpectedly beloved entry in the franchise.
And it’s worst, it can be one of a million tie-in cartoons that just never really gets considered canon.
But almost all of the actors have done quite a lot of voiceover work, which really helps solve that first problem.
And most importantly, Serenity is still the proper sendoff for these characters, that isn’t being touched.
I didn’t want to see them reprise their roles 21 years later, either pretending nothing interesting it happened to them for two decades, or they’ve had a bunch of adventures we’ve missed (maybe for a changing of the guard, but not just for a reboot).
And I didn’t want to see Adam Baldwin on-screen.
I didn’t need Firefly to continue - I stopped reading the comics when I realized they were no longer an epilogue but actually starting a new story.
But in the current media landscape, it was gonna come back in some form, and an animated in-between show is the version I have the most interest in.
I may be wrong, but it feels to me like reporters are giving Trump a lot more "Yeah, no, that's bullshit" responses now than they did just a few months ago.
