I completely agree. I’m a nerd and I love escaping reality; I retreat into fictional worlds to feel better after the stresses of everyday life. And I interact with people based on shared views and interests, not out of a need to promote myself.

You’re not the only one who feels that way. I’ve also noticed that relationships within the fandom have become purely transactional, and the community has split into closed groups.
I think it’s important now to stick with those who share a common interest in the OCs and their stories.
