He dumbed down everything on the entire album (which again, you’re Common, why would you do that, you’re not Master P) but Gladiator actually worked bc it was a big dumb battle record that sounded a lot more like the other bombastic battle records of the time

He was coming off Be and Finding Forever which were (excellent) backpack records in his wheelhouse. UMC was a massive leftfield turn, to a retro early 80s electro sound that has never come back into fashion.

The beat and verse both sucking ass didn’t help either

Impossible to disagree with a single word that Ben Rhodes (Obama era NSC official) is saying here:

All cities have good parts, but Rapid City, SD is pretty plain and boring. Beautiful area around it though.

As far as bigger cities, downtown Indy is weird - the roads are way too wide, it’s filled with chains, and it feels like everything closes up early.

95 sucks but it’s better than the BW.

Or better yet just hang and get crab cakes up there and leave later

Trump has potentially ended free maritime trade, a literally world-changing development that, if it lasts, may do more damage than anything else he has done so far

What a phenomenally, historically evil and incompetent failure

The Republican Party is a party of failure, defeat, and idiocy

Whoa.

Considering the history in Houston, there absolutely should be a WNBA team there. Hope they’re the Comets

Astonishing. The goal of our war is now to undo the effect of the war we started.

Gosh, if only we could rewind to, say, four weeks ago when the Strait of Hormuz was open and normal!

I rooted for the US women and the Canadian men, and Tom Wilson wasn’t the only reason.

Perry being a massive douche helped even less I think. He’s the (pre-team sale) Dan Snyder of alt rock - you support and love the thing he’s closely associated with but you hate the idea of HIM getting celebrated if it goes well

You have to find the best individual spaces and actively avoid the rest. The actual HR Reddit is pretty normal/good in my experience.

TBH as a non-stanified KPop fan I’ve been navigating this dynamic for a decade.

I mean, that’s a book about the rise of the hard right in media with Tucker as a central figure, not some kind of fawning bio. (Full disclosure: I went to HS with the author, he’s a very good journalist)

Apologies to @pkedit.bsky.social for copying his post from another site that I would leave if I could. But what he wrote is true:

No newspaper in the United States has covered soccer more and better in its history than the Washington Post. It saw demand and interest decades ago, and answered.

I genuinely think the biggest threats to democracy are
1) A media landscape dominated by oligarchs making it impossible to get the truth in front of voters
2) Right wing state legislatures and judges changing rules pre-election
Whenever someone says they're going to cancel elections I roll my eyes
