❝Jim Jarmusch once told me, "Fast, Cheap, and Good…pick two. If it’s fast and cheap it won’t be good. If it’s cheap and good it won’t be fast. If it’s fast and good it won’t be cheap." Fast, cheap, and good…pick (2) words to live by.❞—Tom Waits
Please tell me about conferences or seminar series coming up in the next year- on photography, ecology, media, or 1920s-30s - especially if they are in the UK, or online, or free!
Yes, I’m not going to be in Lugano anytime soon..

From the installation Imago at Nōua in Bodø, by Smith and Sami Rintala.
I can’t help myself and must post this rather touristy image. But northern lights! Amazing! In Bodø, just north of the polar circle. #auroraborealis #northernlights

There is a new show on about Tromholts drawings of the northern lights at the Polar museum (www.bbc.com/news/article...), but the first proper photographs were made by Carl Størmer in 1909. This one is probably a bit later, but the look is similar.
Several people tried but as far as I know it would take until 1909 before Carl Størmer managed an actual photograph of the aurorae that showed some shape, not only an indistinct blur.
