Tourism is such an important and growing part of Alabama’s economy and two of the best spots are in the Shoals: Ivy Green, birthplace of Helen Keller, and Muscle Shoals Sound Studios where some of the legends of rock n roll recorded. @louisenewjones and I had a great time visiting both last week.

Primary Day is one month from today. If you are not a registered voter please register. You have until May 4th. If you are registered go to the AL Sec of State website at myinfo.alabamavotes.gov and check your status.
…to earn their social security. Financial security in retirement isn’t a game “Coach.”
Bulls..t! Alabamians need to ask themselves if they want a governor who wants to end social security? Tuberville makes a fortune playing the stock market on inside Senate information but clearly doesn’t have a clue how Alabama seniors worked hard…
…and ensures that formal rate cases regularly occur and that I will work to amend this law to abolish the position of Energy Secretary that answers only to the governor and not the people directly by their vote.
Great piece by Brian Lyman about the status of the AL PSC now that the “packing bill,” which I strongly opposed, is now law. But you play the hand your dealt folks so here’s my promise: as governor I will appoint an Energy Secretary who prioritizes transparency and accountability…
….finally secured a win when her comprehensive voting rights bill received a favorable committee report. It is still unlikely that this bill will be brought to the floor this session, but if it doesn't, I look forward to redoubling our efforts to pass it next session and signing it into law.
Great piece by @Josh_Moon and @ALReporter . We need more legislators like Adline Clarke. For years, Rep. Clarke has carried a voting rights bill that the Republican supermajority usually ignores. Last week she….
Easter is aways about reflection, joy and faith. Waking up this Easter morning to the photos from Artemis II and the news of the rescue of the downed US airman in Iran pretty much captures it all.
As we close out Women’s History Month I hope you will join us for a very special treat as my favorite woman (and running mate), @louisenewjones, joins me for a special Women’s History Month wrap up. Join us at 6 pm CDT.
On Saturday, @louisenewjones and I wrapped up a swing through North Alabama. The energy out there is amazing. First up on Thursday was Etowah County and a luncheon speech to Alabama librarians followed by a listening session with a great crowd at Back Forty Brewing.
Today has been Equal Pay Day. It is a reminder of how much I miss my great friend Lilly Ledbetter, the champion of equal pay for women, but also a reminder of the work ahead of us to erase the pay disparities between men and women. Lilly would be all in with our campaign!
I am so grateful for their friendship, their leadership in Congress, and their support of our campaign for governor. Change is coming folks!

Louise and I always enjoy seeing old friends at Terri Sewell’s annual Ultimate Ladies Power luncheon, but this one was extra special with both @repsewell and special guest @repnikema coming out with strong endorsements….
Hey folks. Hope you will tune in to a live Q&A with me at 5:30 CDT / 6:30 EDT. I’ll get to a few questions left over from a couple of our events and then get straight to yours. See you soon!
Here’s the deal, folks. We will work hard to win votes in all 67 Alabama counties not just for me, but for the Ticket for Change. Yesterday, our volunteers got to work. Louise, Phillip, Violet, and I joined them. If you want to volunteer please sign up at dougjones.com/volunteer
Loved being back in my hometown of Fairfield yesterday celebrating the Tigers’ state basketball championship win! It was great to catch up with a couple of old Fairfield classmates and, well… and then there was the Corvette! 😎
Escalating gas prices are killing hard working AL families who are already struggling just to make ends meet. Gov. Ivey and the legislature can do something about that immediately: put a 60-90 day pause on collection of the 30 cent per gallon state gas tax. Ga did. So can AL.
… and reject this kind of hateful and divisive rhetoric once and for all. And when we do, the entire country will take notice and take action.
The failure of Republican leadership in both DC and Montgomery to denounce the racist comments of Tommy Tuberville is disappointing but not surprising. It’s time the voters in Alabama show them the way….
that requires the PSC to have a rate CASE which has not been done since 1982. Hopefully that one will pass, the other will not, and they’ll let the new PSC try to right the PSC ship after the November elections.
I understand Democrats are anxious to have a say to try and lower utility bills but this even worse than the first one. Call your House member and get them to vote NO if SB360 comes up. The second one, the HB475 substitute, is a good bill….
SB360 appears to let folks keep voting but it is really just a PSC packing plan where the governor would ultimately have appointed 5 out of 7 members for the next 2 years, with an energy czar that controls all of them out of the governor’s office, not the commissioners…
PLEASE READ ALL:
We need to make sure that folks in Montgomery get the message that the way to lower bills and get control of the PSC back to the people and not the power company is to VOTE! PSC chaos continues to dominate the AL legislature. Two bills are coming up - 1 bad and 1 good….
Like so many of you tonight, IK am rooting for “The Alabama Solution” to take home an Oscar. But win or lose, this film has thrown a spotlight on a serious problem that needs reform. Building billion dollar prisons is like putting a bandaid on catastrophic injury.

Thank you @iamwesmoore for your support of my campaign, but more importantly for the example you have set as Gov. of Maryland. Governors can make a positive difference in the lives of their constituents. You have. I will. Thank you!
It is hard to express the hope one feels when back in Selma at Brown AME Church and to walk across that bridge with folks who come by the thousands. It was truly a blessing for @louisenewjones and me to be there and to participate. This year was a clarion call for action.
Selma weekend would not be complete without a special shout out and thank you to my dear friend @RepTerriSewell, a daughter of Selma and a tireless advocate for voting rights and AL’s 7th District. Thanks for letting me tag along!
Always love to share a laugh and a selfie with @PeteButtigieg, but his remarks in Selma and Birmingham the next day were inspirational. Thanks for making another trip Pete!
