Mathematicians are also just generally awful at writing readable code.

No David, you do not in fact need to make every variable a single letter

Old games are absolutely coded like shit, for the most part. They're not a monolith. It's a gradient. And the average of the past was far beneath the average of today

The AI boom comes at a cost 😮‍💨⁣⁣
⁣Behind the AI hype is a surge in energy use, data centre expansion and growing threats to democracy.⁣ Can it still be called progress if it deepens environmental harm, surveillance, and the grip of Big Tech and autocrats on power?⁣

No, just don't let them be built. They cause severe pollution and harm the health of those around them. The people who build them are also so wealthy they could just buy out power plants and now you still pay more for electricity.

They just need to be regulated. Idk why we don't just regulate them.

The Internet has honestly spawned an unfathomable number of insufferable hall monitors and I don't think we will heal as a society until this is fixed

The reality is people on the internet these days are so desperate to gotcha each other they're literally cannibalizing each other, trying to sus each other out over anything they can construe as being fucked up.

The internet has destroyed any and all nuance from discourse.

Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential?

As someone who writes exclusively female protags I believe this right of mine comes from the fundamental right to write whatever the hell you think is cool as fuck

For me that is badass women who are major assholes, for others that's badass men who are major assholes.

And that's how it should be

Personally I would call that formal over professional. To me being professional means being courteous, following through on promises, and doing the job you're expected to do.

But there's no need to be formal as an indie, I def agree with that

What do you mean by professional here?

The worst thing about gaming in 2026 is everyone has to post spoilers and it’s impossible to experience the game entirely for yourself unless you just completely avoid social media.

I don't see a dilemma. If you're motivated to study you should study. That motivation won't last forever

A digital illustration of a person wearing elaborate and ornate clothing/armour. The upper half of their head is exploding and out of it, flows a cornucopia of fleshy bits, flowers, a foetus(?!?), and some toothy mouths :)

Oooh lol I get it now

Extremely relatable, dream sequences and other trippy stuff in games have always been my favourite, and usually I feel like they're over too soon.

That's why I'm making a pretty massive section of my game into just that. I've been calling it "LSD Island" lol

Maybe a stupid question but what does "alluded" mean in this context? I thought it came from the root "allusion" as in "to make an indirect reference to something"

I haven't seen this usage of it before so I'm curious

I would really like to see a "declouding" movement where consumers demand any software that doesn't strictly need to be in the cloud, be downloadable to run locally on their own hardware.

The way that things used to be.

Probably a me problem but I think it's incredibly unattractive when someone consistently misspells basic words, particularly when it's in their native language
