Experiencing the stages of grief as my service program was defunded on Monday. I was set to end my year of service on the 5th anyway and start in a Director position at my county's largest food pantry on the 6th. Thankfully, this new role is privately funded but my heart is still broken.

With the pending government shutdown, I still plan and want to work but won't get paid during the period of the shutdown. I love and work hard doing food security and food justice related work but it's also just another layer of distress during a scary time.
