This is incredibly sad and a massive loss for the profession. IZA was my home for 5 years during which I met many wonderful people. I still have many friends there and am very sorry for them.

I'm afraid Irish English will confuse you here. It's written like British English but we (often) say "soccer" because there is an Irish sport called "Garlic football".

Maps of municipality-level election results

My fantastic co-author Julian Voss has meticulously compiled municipality-level election results for Post-WW2 Western German elections (1949-1969) from historical records. What a great resource! Read the paper, use the data: osf.io/preprints/os...

tidyverse for data wrangling, base R for basic regressions (lm and glm), fixest for more advanced methods. And quarto for writing assignments.

100% agree. We switched all our econometrics courses to R and it works very well. It's free and the AI support for R is excellent, which is a big plus.

Reading this paper and absolutely loving it. Addresses an important methodological issue, concise and clearly written, methods are implemented in an R package so others can use them easily. www.researchgate.net/publication/...

Oooh fun topic. At a Czech university I was once given a pile of koruna on the spot, signed a receipt and that was it. They told me a bank transfer would take more than a year.

Wait, that was a year ago 🤭

I am very happy to share that I have been promoted to Professor of Economics at UCD.
It has been quite a journey, and I'm deeply grateful to family, friends, colleagues, and mentors who provided invaluable support over many years. I'll pay forward for sure. #firstgen

We started @malengo.org in 2021 to support Ugandan students on their journey to a Bachelor's degree in Germany. We admitted 10 students in 2021; 30 in 2022; and 120 in 2023.

Our next goal: FOUR HUNDRED!
