Some more high contrast black and white for today. I think I am being influenced by my friends talking too much about medium format cameras. Mine isn’t that, but it does a good job on the aesthetic anyway! 🤣

Very cool use of the tech!

If you have it, you could model the legislative history of the language during the process as branches that record various merges and amendments, etc.

A vibrant sunset over dark blue water. The sun dips behind a dark landmass on the horizon, casting a golden glow beneath layers of heavy, dark clouds tinged with fiery orange and pink.

this passover lets remember:

criticism of israel or its government is not antisemitism.

and saying that it is diminishes real antisemitism.

Interesting point on how bureaucracy goes from designed to evolved (with non-obvious pathways) over time!

Seems like strong intersection with @weaver.bsky.social’s view of the world.

I’d use simple/complex. Easy/difficult is a correlated axis but not quite the same. (Since other things can confound ease/difficulty)

... I must have just gotten the X-T5 then. Clearly before I figured out how to use the dynamic range. It's wearing my old 12-24 according to the EXIF, which is probably my favorite lens to use despite being very old and non-system.

4-panel comic. (1) [Glowing black dot surrounded by clouds.] DOT: I think I did a good job with this universe. Pressure waves dance through gas clouds. They clump together and then pressure pushes them apart. (2) [Some of the clouds are clumping together.] DOT: Oh weird, that big clump of clouds is staying together. Their gravity is overcoming the pressure and more gas is falling in. (3) [More clouds are sucked in.] DOT: It’s not stopping! The heat is rising but the collapse is only accelerating! I messed up. I messed up *bad*. (4) [The clump has become a shining star.] DOT: NOOOOOOOO!!! My beautiful clouds! Ruined! It’s all ruined!

I use the Google Calendar iOS app for that. Not sure if that fits the bill, but it’s independent from the system calendars in Calendar. Same with the GMail app.

*Has AI ever done me any AI-specific harm, personally (as yet)

*Well, they scraped a bunch of my novels to train the models

*I think this might be classified as "harm I myself personally did to AI," due to blameful science fiction dystopias, etc

The danger in trying to do good is that the mind comes to confuse the intent of goodness with the act of doing things well.

I don’t know how anyone could look at the history of far-right nationalism and assume that the forces unleashed by Trumpism would not eventually come for the Jews. Tucker Carlson understands the endpoint of the movement more authentically than Ben Shapiro does.

This is the probable future. Instead of static code that sits in repositories, future agents will generate ephemeral code on task request in milliseconds. Then deleted after. The idea of code lasting long enough to be read will seem quaint.

Vibe coding broke people's brains because they had a bad understanding of the software design process.

The pop culture model goes something like this: start out with a sketch and then render that same idea in progressively finer detail.

So when tools could "skip" to high detail, people went WOW.

This is where journalists fail us. They can only manipulate the symbols of the argument without interrogating, whether the symbols are real, correct, or appropriate for the argument.

Preserving our might is unfortunately necessary work to defend free places from warlords.

But just being the biggest warlord is how everyone loses.

Glee over violence is spelled “barbarism” not “dynamism”.

Feeling patriotic about this war - even if one judges the Iranian regime evil - is to completely misunderstand what is actually special about the United States.

If you think it’s our might, let me explain to you the difference between “necessary” and “sufficient”.

Heel (professional wrestling) - Wikipedia

They’ve really leaned into being the heel.

Which is great in a morality play but less so when we’re talking real life - a distinction that apparently seems lost on them.
