Amazing work. And ouch, a heavy blow to one of my favourite literature "classics".
Really, no reviews in, or just no decision rendered by the DFG just yet? DFG asks for reviews back within 4 weeks... I'm certainly guilty myself of not always meeting that, but.....no reviews in after 12 months altogether.....wowzers!!??!!!
Early heads-up: There will be one postdoc and one PhD position in the field of learning/decision making open in my lab from Sept 2026. More information to follow soon, but feel free to already get in touch for informal inquiries! Please spread the word!
🎆🎆🎆🍾🍾🍾🍾 Wooohoooo! Amazing! Congratulations, Lina! Sorry to see you leave, but good for @epanlab.bsky.social !
Reporting today as a freshly-minted #MSCA fellow - I will be joining the @epanlab.bsky.social at the @dondersinst.bsky.social 🤩 Over the moon, but also thinking about all the excellent proposals who were not awarded funding in this brutal round - feels more like a lottery than ever.
"Just pathetic". Gavin Newsom spot on about the European leaders' attempts at "diplomacy" with DJT.

Fantastic!! Congratulations, Mona! :🎆🍾
How very cool, many congrats! And well done, Osnabrück! :-)
Really cool work from @hhu.de colleagues Martin Papenberg )(psychology) and @guwek.bsky.social (computer science), together with researchers at UCSF and Stanford! 👇

An abbreviation (ABB) in a journal article (JA) or Grant Application (GA) is rarely worth the words it saves. Every ABB requires cognitive resources (CR) and at my age by the time I'm halfway through a JA or GA I no longer have the CR to remember what your ABB stood for.

Happy 107th Birthday, Brenda Milner! Her contributions to neuropsychology shaped the way we understand the human brain. From surviving two world wars and two pandemics, to paving the way for future generations of researchers, Milner’s legacy continues. @mcgill.ca @cusm-muhc.bsky.social
Congrats, @kalenscher.bsky.social and gang!
Not to mention that excitation ~= excitation (particularly for slope of the aperiodic in EEG). My take is that receptor time constants matter. Makes a difference whether excitation is faster (AMPA) or considerably slower (NMDA) relative to inhibition (mostly GABA-A).
The excellent @linaskora.bsky.social presenting her work on taVNS modulation of cardiac frequency during threat related decision making at the biology of decision making symposium #SBDM2025
I will be looking to hire 2-3 post-docs over the course of the next few months to work on questions related to cognitive control in humans, using EEG, TMS, DBS, sEEG, fMRI, or related methods.
If you know anybody, please tell them to email me.
Formal ad to follow. Lab website: wessellab.org
Two papers out today on RL in the dopaminergic neurons of the midbrain of mice (one from McGill's new PI @paulmasset.bsky.social). Both papers demonstrate heterogeneity in discount factors!
