i recall the hype for CP77 was all “i want to live in night city!“ which i feel is kind of missing the point of the setting a bit. but also i feel gets a bit at what people’s desires are with these open world forever-games.

perhaps that’s the appeal of RDR2. a game where you can exist in a virtual world and wander around for 200+ hours. some sort of way to have agency and satisfy wanderlust. or something like that.

feeling something… wistful? longing? watching Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card (in the bg at a friend’s place) and seeing these sixth graders going out to the park or perusing the shops on their own. Like… wow. I wish all kids got those opportunities…

I always thought it was neat how Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! is sort of a puzzle game in the shape of a boxing game. Like, the puzzle is trying to figure out their weak points and how to hit them.
