Going through my annual Paul Simon 'Graceland' phase.

These days are horrifying, but they are also the days of miracle and wonder.

Never forget that.

Don't cry, baby,

Experts Raise Concerns Over Trump’s White House Ballroom Renovation Plans

The sheer scale of the project — a giant ballroom attached to the East Wing — worries preservationists. “It could do some harm to the property over all,” said a professor at George Washington University. “There aren’t any checks and balances here, unfortunately.”

This interview is so clear & quietly devastating. Public media as we understand it is over.

This is not about the end of NPR & PBS. They might be able to find ways to continue to make programs. Instead of content, this is about the capacity to broadcast at all - antennae, transmitters, licenses. 🧵

Hahahaha good point. Hydration really needs to override my hoarding instincts.

I sometimes feel bad drinking purse water in case I'll get in some apocalyptic scenario where I'll need to conserve water or, like, I'll just be more thirsty later and so I delay.

Seriously what is wrong with me lmao

Mr. Fetterman — who has admittedly missed several votes and hearings this year and gained a reputation for frustrating progressives and criticizing his party — told reporters Monday between votes on amendments that he just wanted to “go home.”
“I've already missed our entire trip to the beach,” he said of a family vacation. “I’m going to vote no. There’s no drama … I don't think it's really helpful to put people here till some ungodly hour.”
He added that the only interesting votes would be “on the margin,” by Republican senators such as Maine’s Susan Collins and others who have expressed concerns about the bill’s cuts to Medicaid or its estimated piling of almost $3.3 trillion to the national debt over the next several years, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.
Mr. Fetterman argued that he didn’t think Americans were “really going to be paying attention” to the dozens of amendments from Democrats doomed to fail under the Republican majority. “I don’t really think there’s a lot of dignity in it,” he told reporters.

ICYMI. Scab paper, but some pretty wild Fetterman quotes about the Big Ugly Bill:

i don’t think there’s anything wrong with this coming from columnists or commenters or protestors but it has been a known problem for years that when you describe the most extreme republican policies to the average voter, they just flat don’t believe you

It's strange that there were no emails or communication to alumni about Coro's closing, no media, little talk in policy circles. (I have no direct info on what happened.) The lack of transparency is disappointing. Coro was pivotal on my public servant journey & enriched the Pittsburgh community.

@PanasonicDX4500

I get that we are so far past the point where fact checking matters but it cannot be stressed enough that there's like six trans women in the entirety of college sports and like, in the name of radical transparency, they're mostly not even good.

america imploded almost a century of unrivaled global hegemony to stop a hypothetical trans woman from coming off the bench for a volleyball team in the metro atlantic.
