Allbirds shares jump over 400% on plans to pivot to AI from sneakers Shares of Allbirds surged more than five-fold on Wednesday after the footwear maker said it was raising capital and pivoting towards AI computing infrastructure.

The year is 2027 — you look inside your computer tower — you find a big ol vaporwave shoe w/ 8 pin cables plugged into it.

You could say I was a bit of a rebel. 😂

I remember during elementary I would sneak into the middle school computer club to play StarCraft.

But off in the corner was a group of students who would mostly gush about Myst or EverQuest.

One of them did flatteringly ask which school I’m attending—

They might be onto something. Ive been listening to a playlist that is very “first steps in the big city.” 😂

Brooklyn Day 1 — both my movers and my neighbor asked if I’ve ever lived in nyc before — both with very concerned expressions 😂

If anyone knows any excellent and experienced data engineers who would be excited by a Richmond-based job in the cultural heritage sector, have them get in touch.

Unfortunately, i tend to express this sentiment through various character impressions (Bane, being a notable one), and I’m continually shocked that I’m unable to persuade folks to just look at the logits.

In my experience, this is a recurring motif outside of the university too.

By which I mean, I think I perennially say things like “why are we computing proxy metric X, when we have the literal logits, loss, etc etc from diff stages of training.”

Would you realize if the book you were reading was AI? What if it was humanized to remove AI-speak?

We find that even without using stylistic cues (e.g., word choice or sentence structure) narrative choices alone give AI fiction away!

Vs code has this button at the bottom now of the UI that says “update is ready, click to restart.”

And I really know, at an inopportune time, I will click this, and my day is going to get very annoying.

Ah yknow, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone has some form of this already.

But my wheels are spinning and, for a broad audience, I’d be tempted to put together a set of Claude skill files (a skill per component) to walk students through implementing this or that.

Kind of want to brew this now 😂

Is there a mix of cs students and other majors? Or all non cs majors? 😂🫣

One of my side projects is making web app textbook, using nanogpt’s commit history — it’s the kind of the thing I could imagine an undergrad senior might want.

For the nano chat stack itself — are you hoping your students could build their own by the end? Or just familiar with the major pieces?

The special Korean exhibit at the Art institute has taught me an important lesson…

If I am part owner of Samsung — I too can own priceless historical artifacts and lend them at my leisure.

After helping them move past us, I’m now getting lectured about how the moving truck is incredibly inconvenient.

Helping them was slightly noble, but also it is also another classic self own.

Also, speaking of self owns, an elderly driver tried to drive past our parked moving truck, scraping their car on the side all the way.

Note: we’re in the back alleyway, not an official road
