someone should write a review of this pile of embarrassing shit published in..... oh link.springer.com/article/10.1...
For an industry paper, this is a very incurious article about an organisation that was incorporated 7 years ago as "Geeks College Ltd" and whose website lists 6 MSc degress and four (4) faculty, all adjunct. Fees are £9900. www.timeshighereducation.com/news/virtual...
I'm aware this is a pun, but am literally googling how to darn -_-

Obviously "my work engages with the widely-accepted if rather vague materialist gestues of humanites theory from two decades ago" sound less good, but we are where we are.
At what point are we accepting that reference to a nearly 20-year-old book by karen barad no longer constitutes a "new" materialism.
Of four free speech cases highlighted here, fully three of them concern self-described "gender critical" academics, while the fourth is a guy opposed to BLM and the concept of strutural racism - if anyone is in doubt about that this is for. www.bbc.com/news/article...
Bridie was almost exactly the same age as Queen Elizabeth, and the family joke was that she refused to die until she saw the queen go down first. In the end, Bridie outlived her by about six months.
Extraordinary the lives some of the kids on this census would live; my grandmother died at 97 - having been born into the free state a few years after after independence, she lived to see e.g. the abortion and same-sex marriage referendums.

Seeing as everyone else is doing it - my maternal grandmother, Bridie, one month old when she's listed on the 1926 census. She would have turned 100 this month. She's one of five (more were to come) and her father is described as a railway ganger for the great southern railway.
It's very funny that this document has essentially two points: (1) the US should be an imperial power based on AI-driven weapons; and also (2) it's wrong to be mean about people's bad tweets.

A follow up post saying "I know, I know about the excessive and unnecessary bombing."

not identifying for sure, but I think (??) the average Uk anglcian knows that their religious practices are downstream of a divide in the christian communion in which papal authority was a central issue. total speculation, but I am not convinced the average US christian also knows this.
That would be my experience too - which is ofc partly an artefact of the relative weakness of urbanisation in ireland compared to somehwre like Yorkshire (David Dixon is good on the history of this, in case you don;t know it).
Yeah, I would generally have thought of conservative catholics as systemic rather than counter-revolutionary - but its also a good quarter century since I was in sustained contact with any.
