Another note on this, I was pitching an animated series for all humans that was centered around a 12 year old girl, with a HUGE and star studded team attached. Despite that, every single place we pitched it told us "girls don't watch animation."

I love this.

As an auntie to two beautiful boys who are under 5 and have not been ruined by society yet, they constantly choose to identify with and love female characters unprompted. Minnie Mouse was a favorite, now Moana and Mirabel. Boys unsee women over time. We don't have to let it happen.
