The rise in climate pollution from the US is 2025 canceled out the reductions from China, India, Japan, and the EU combined.

What about Defoe working alongside Harry Redknapp? Would give a much needed vibes injection.
Breaking: China's official statistics report a 0.3% drop in CO2 emissions from energy&industry in 2025, the third time that annual emissions have fallen this century and the first fall predominantly driven by clean energy growth. 🧵
Franzi Schimmer captured this Grizzly bear in Brooks Falls, Alaska just floating along, tippy-tapping down the river, browsing the salmon.
Prior to hibernation, up to 40% of a bear's body mass is fat, which is less dense than water (~0.9 g/cm^2), so the murder-monster is also a floaty-boaty.

My new investigation shows that while Shell claims to have reduced its greenhouse gas emissions, but it has done this largely by selling polluting assets.
At former Shell oil fields in Nigeria, flaring has gone up, causing problems for local people.

Did you know air pollution is the top preventable cause of premature death + ill-health in the world today: killing nearly 10 million people per year? And 2/3 of air pollution comes from burning fossil fuels?

When it rains, it now rains more.
For those experiencing the flooding in south-west England, it is worth remembering that rainfall in winter has increased by about 25% overall.
And, the rainfall has also become more intense: when it rains, it now rains more, increasing the risk of flooding.
If I was Xabi Alonso I would simply manage Tottenham Hotspur to an era of unfathomable domestic dominance and continental success, but that's just me I guess
My mum would have been 70 yesterday. She taught me how to cook and through that how to be fully present in the world.
I wrote about that and my awkward child chef era here.

Venezuelan oil’s flaring intensity, or the ratio of greenhouse gas pollution per barrel of oil produced, is the worst in the world: www.worldbank.org/en/programs/...
Okay not *only* about oil, also about showing dominance and probably some sort of petty grievance in there too. But definitely ALSO helpful to some US oil majors (notably Exxon and Chevron)
Climate injustice:
“…in the aftermath of extreme weather events, lower-income neighbourhoods are less likely to rebuild and do not return to their pre-disaster state, whereas higher-income areas rebuild and tend to improve compared with their pre-disaster state…”

It's funny to have to make this case but tbqh we don't make it enough: human efforts to counter fossil fuel use have had *at least some* effect on total greenhouse gas emissions since the signing of the Paris Agreement in 2015, and there's some evidence to back up this position

There is a lot of talk about data centers taking up gas demand in the US. However, it will be LNG exports that take the big chunk.
"Feed gas demand from Plaquemines LNG terminal alone could top 4 Bcf/d this winter, roughly equal to the low end of data center growth estimates through 2030."
The 2-year running mean for the global surface temperature anomaly is still above 1.55°C.
Everything will be fine.

Global emissions may fall 10% by 2035 — but scientists say a 60% drop is needed to keep 1.5°C alive.
But seriously: I'm prepping for a panel on Abundance and climate and going down the rabbit hole of documenting everything so I can cite it, and I'm finding things are SO much worse than I even thought.
Did you know that the Charles Koch Foundation was a sponser of Abundance 2024?
No, really.
