I don't know your location, but Fish & Game. Or Wildlife. Whatever the "nature and resources law enforcement" agency is. (Often identifiable by googling who issues fishing or hunting licenses in your area.)

I wonder if it also stems from Amz saying KU books can be distributed to libraries and a flood of authors recently signing their books to D2D for library distro only. So D2D’s footing the server/etc bills while the vast majority of the book’s income comes from and goes to Amz.
The thing is, this is probably happening because AI book “authors” are uploading hundreds of books and then not selling many of them because that’s not the plan.
Three five star reads in a row. This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me by Ilona Andrews. Finlay Donovan Crosses the Line by Elle Cosimano. The Ending Writes Itself by Evelyn Clarke.
April has not been great, but I did just read three 5-star books in a row!
I know what it is, but from consuming British shows and reading books that didn't cut it in American copyedits.
We weren’t allowed to watch The Flintstones because Fred and Barney were always lying to their wives so they could go bowling.
I don't mess with the Catholic Church (my maternal family's from North Attleboro, MA, so...) but I would totally high-five the Pope this week (you know, if it was allowed).
Thank you!
Paperback copies of Stranded in a Small Town Christmas and There’s Only One Sleigh sitting on the keyboard of an open laptop.
Working on THE SINGLE DAD’S CHRISTMAS IN JULY meant rereading the first two books in the Holiday HEA series yesterday (thanks, ADHD brain) and though I did change a kid’s name (will fix that when I update the files), I was pleased to still be delighted by them. Not a bad way to spend a day!
Three packages of white Post-It notes next to a paperback copy of Yours to Keep and a white sticky note on which is written “Happy 46th birthday, Post-It Notes”.
Happy birthday, sticky notes! Not only do I need them to write my books, but they’re often IN the books. (Especially YOURS TO KEEP.) My son has a “this day in history” calendar, and every night, he gives us the year & category & we guess. It took a few minutes and several extra hints, but I GOT IT.
Yes! They cast a great staff, so I hope they're thinking about The Pitt: Night Shift.
I use both very randomly. But I “make dinner” and “eat supper” pretty consistently. IDEK. Military kid so my New England gets muddled a bit.
Oh, so they’ve heard of copyright, then.
NASA is launching the Artemis II mission! Astronauts will orbit around the moon. It will be the 1st time a Black astronaut orbits the moon in Victor Glover, the 1st time a woman astronaut orbits the moon in Christina Koch & the 1st time a Canadian astronaut orbits the moon in Jeremy Hansen. WOW! 🌝✨
A closed notebook with a pen on top in front of a pottery mug of tea and a closed laptop.
I’m grateful pen & paper have remained a core part of my process over the years because I’ve been turning to them more and more often lately. No subscriptions, no AI, no tech bloat. Just ideas and words.

Laptop sitting open to a moody ocean sunset wallpaper. In front of it are a white mug that says “write epic shit” with black tea in it, a stack of plain white index cards with a Sharpie S-Gel pen on top, and a pad of pale purple sticky notes with a black Sharpie on top.
Brainstorming tools are out because I’ve got a plothole to patch.
This cold is kicking my butt, but at least it's a great TV night. (Will Trent, High Potential, and RJ Decker.) Smart, funny crime shows are my favorite.
I was talking to my husband about this after S2.E4 because I got a little sniffly when one of the expectations I had was subverted. And of course the big one in the S2 pilot. (Trying not to be too spoilery.) Season 2 is amazing.
There's a reddit thing where people upload pics asking if they're AI. Often I'll look & think one is real. Then a bunch of commenters will circle very obvious (once circled) tells and...what even is my brain? It makes me so anxious when I don't clock things that are immediately obvious to others.

CEO + baker. A few bad math jokes. So much pie.

A nearby (NH) town that I would have bet a tank of gas would wave their red flag to the end just went blue in a special election on the state level. Another little kernel to add to my tiny hoard of hope.
(My own kids are well past high school. But I was on my recently graduated sister's contact list.)
Just got texted an invitation to join the Navy. I should show up just to see the reaction to a 53-year-old romance author walking in with a tumbler of coffee and her fleece woobie.
(Side note: Recruiters having enough access to student records to spam everybody on their contact list is annoying.)
Can you think of a cozy fantasy cottage core book that features
- found family
- small towns
- cats, mermaids AND unicorns
and IS NOT The Spellshop?
We're hunting for a book for a reader. Any suggestions?
I'm guilty of having a "little old Gram" in my head when I'm writing, but I'm trying to remember to push back at that.
I'll never forget the day I realized I don't have grandchildren yet, but like...we're them now. Time for the zero-fucks-given, feral GenX grandmas running amok in romance. Hell, even the great-grandmas are kicking ass. (Though my mother is not great at tech, I must admit.)
Sticky note with 75 numbered boxes, each representing 1000 words. The box for 70 is outlined darker because it’s the minimum per my contract. At the top is a banner reading Wayward Harbor Book 3. The first box has an X drawn through it with black Sharpie.
1000 words down, at least 69.000 words to go.
