Sebastian Chiquin, his son and a Narú staff member sow corn seeds in a remote and very dry area which had little access to water. With only one harvest annually, corn is eaten sparingly throughout the year. They now plant seeds closer together to twice the usual yield as dry months become dryer.

Dominga Xe, a mother of seven, makes tortillas, the staple food in the region. Dominga’s husband Vincente died in 2023 after struggling with severe malnutrition and one of her kids became unwell soon after.
