I FIGURED OUT WHERE THE SIMPSONS’ SPRINGFIELD IS USING ANALYTICAL DEDUCTION AND TEXTUAL ANALYSIS

35,000 people are already following me on TikTok—come join them! I break down the surprising (and often hilarious) differences between American and Norwegian culture, plus the struggles of leaving behind my old life and career for a safer future in Norway. If that sounds interesting, come hang out!
Good morning to my follicular phase only
bahahahaha
Hahaha I’ve lived in Norway 2.5 years now and I won’t tolerate someone even sitting in the row in front of me now lol
Yes yes haha I cut out the postal service and courier mail for the convenience of my argument, which clearly would not pass peer review but makes for good Twitteresque content 🤣
But also I love the way you said this. We need our own headspace sometimes!! And just KNOWING people can reach you all the time affects our mindset
I used to think that about Norway, too. Now that I’m older and seek quiet more, I can’t believe my 25 year old self was bothering people on the subway 🤣
To have a brief moment here and there where you exist without being called upon for something? I think it sounds heavenly.
I think we need to get back to a version of this. Constantly feeling accessible at any time to everyone is secretly exhausting to almost everyone I know. There’s something universal to all animals about sometimes just… existing… without another creature having any idea that we are there at all
In the Victorian Era, people could only get in touch with you by
1) visiting your home on the one day of the week that were willing to have guests, or
2) by leaving a card to say they had stopped by at some other time, hoping you would then visit them on their designated visiting day
I call everyone girl!! Especially men! It’s my way 😘😘😘
Can’t for the life of me imagine why this toy didn’t sell and ended up in the bargain bin
Oh damn! Yeah it is 🤣
I love how I sometimes lose things for months bc I refuse to look under my bed.
Like, we are all very aware the missing sock or slipper could very well be there, but we’d all prefer not to ask questions.
Finally, I love Lars Vaular. He’s white but has a song on the increasing marijuana crack down in Norway, using the American war on drugs as a Jeremiad. My favorite line is “by criminalizing something you can segregate a population.”
But I also love Jonas Benyoub who is Moroccan born in Norway and raps also about what it’s like to be brown here. I do Public speaking and my speeches to international students are all using these artists to prove Norway isn’t a “white nation” - it has more immigrants by % than American!
Girl omg!!! I’ve waited my whole life to be asked this. So my favorite group is Karpe- they are born in Norway but Brown. they rap abt basically WEB DuBois’s double consciousness. immigrant rights. donated all profits to refugees years ago, are the most popular group in the history of Norway
But he’s a president so he can’t commit crimes. So glad we are on the way to actual autocracy
Are you okay, darling? You’ve barely touched your ever-growing pile of existential dread
If TikTok would simply become the US president, no one could ban it or sanction it. Problem solved
Is… Time Magazine hoping for a cabinet position or…?
Yes!!! This is a huge proportion of the content I do on TikTok. I hate this stereotype abt Scandinavians
Also, Mary Wollstonecraft:
"I do not hear the [Danes] talk with delight of the winter, which is the constant theme of the Norwegians; on the contrary, they seem to dread its comfortless inclemency."
SO true STILL. My immigrant daughter was ELATED that there was snow for sledding today at school
I'm doing a 30 day series on Norway / America on my Tiktok and Youtube, and many Norwegians have confirmed this viewpoint. /3
their friendly gestures gratified me...they approached to assist me, & inquire after my wants, as if they were afraid to hurt, & wished to protect me."
Strikes me as still kind of how Norwegians are. Quiet, reserved, but eager to help if they think you're in trouble. /2
Ok, I finally dug it up: "As the Norwegians do not frequently see travellers, they are very curious to know their business. If I were importuned by their curiosity, /1
@omeka.org omega! Girl I used to teach you to all my students in my history classes 😭😭😭 I feel like I’m at a class reunion rn
Plz ask me how Mary Wollstonecraft described Norwegians!
Spør mæ hvordan mary wollstonecraft (forfatter til Frankenstein boka) beskrev Nordmenn!
I need to info dump! God I’ve missed this type of platform!!!
