My first-ever "haiku happiness hour" happens May 13 in San Francisco - it promises to be a low-key, social, fun time writing and sharing haiku. Very accessible! No experience required!

How haiku can help you become a better writer Haiku helped me become a better headline writer. They have helped me write better subject lines for emails. But most of all, they’ve helped me enjoy and appreciate life more.

An AI Upheaval Is Coming for Media. This Journalist Is Already All In. AI-assisted stories accounted for nearly 20% of Fortune’s web traffic in the second half of 2025. Most are written by Nick Lichtenberg.

Back in my day, we didn't need AI to write seven stories a day. Heck, Dean Takahashi regularly filed 15-20 from conferences like GDC.

Open Letter from Communications Leaders Defending Press Freedom Communicators call for the end of federal prosecution of journalists covering Minnesota protests and the protection of First Amendment rights.

So I guess I mean to say: the culture celebrated that behavior, and in so doing perpetuated it. But not "the culture" - specific men did this, through their actions and their writing

As a boy, growing up reading SF in the 80s, I read accounts in anthologies by Harlan Ellison etc that made it clear the male authors at conventions were mostly interested in women to hit on them. Now I realize those accounts were trying to teach me how to be a man, or an Important Male Author

I want to read your poem! And congratulations on publication.

But there's a ghastly, graphic drawing of a suicide in that zine as you flip through it - disturbing enough to me that I stopped looking when I hit it & didn't find your poem

We'll increasingly recognize the limitations of AI in 2026. I wrote a post about it -- and included an AI prompt you can use to make you a better writer.
