Word of the day: Grandiosity - a sense of specialness that might lead you to: boast about real or exaggerated accomplishments, consider yourself more talented or intelligent than others, dismiss or try to one-up the achievements of others, believe you don't need anyone else to succeed.

America, please don’t let this be the new normal.
Carney has been impressive so far. Cometh the hour cometh the man?
I thought the Trump coin was some silly token aimed at MAGA. And yes, but its real purpose is much more corrupt, with Trump making millions on the transaction fees alone. No transparency about who’s buying (China, Russian oligarchs). No transparency selling.

Daily Mail is reporting that Musk is stepping down now. I’m sceptical, maybe wishful thinking.

Just finished Niall Williams book This is Happiness. It’s his best I’ve read so far - a beautiful evocation of life in West Clare in the late 50’s during what was called rural electrification. A love story too. Highly recommended. #SpeirGorm #books
I don’t feel the love for this platform. Am I just too used to Goodreads. Any thoughts? #books

Values are important but apparently you can’t shoot them. Who knew? Thanks Pete 😱
Amongst other things Trump has 1. Fired head of the office of government ethics. 2. Stopped the enforcement of the Foreign corrupt practices act. 3. Fired independent watchdogs. This is a charter for corruption, with no attempt to hide it.
FB content moderation - outsourced, no mental health counselling, poor pay, despite what FB might pretend it aspires to. But to cancel it entirely is madness. Is this a job that could be done by AI?

Evan Ferguson set to link up with Graham Potter again as West Ham loan deal agreed
Hopefully a good move for him and he knows Potter well.
Just tonight?
It would be good craic alright.
All bets are off: why the Guardian has decided to reject gambling advertising
It’s so great to see this. Gambling advertising is so pervasive and the consequences of gambling can be devastating. Guardian has already take a stand on X advertising 👏👏
Steve Bannon condemns Elon Musk as ‘racist’ and ‘truly evil’
No surprise to see MAGA turning on each other.
More drivel from the greediest man in the world.
A rare visitor to our shores. Black Brant geese, taken in Raghly harbour Sligo. #SpeirGorm
The Baily lighthouse on Howth Head, the Pigeon Towers in the background. Taken at 1630 yesterday in a beautiful sunset.
The studs stop slips that might cause a fall but I had loads of small slips so had to be careful. The thing about this particular hike is that it’s steep in parts and no support rail. So not for the not so sure footed. Loads of other hikes nearby.
From beautiful Knocknarea in Sligo just now. A bit dull and misty but a great morning for a hike nonetheless. #SpeirGorm
Yeah it’s a bit of a spoiler alert.
Tibradden getting into the Christmas spirit. Beautiful hike, 10 minutes off the motorway. #SpeirGorm
First time I got this from Goodreads. Handy summary. #books.
Never doubted (well maybe just a bit).
Now!!
Boro on top atm.
Can’t defend corners.
