I have a more specific pet peeve about that one. The standard has become to show just the most significant time unit, rounded down.
So if it's now (e.g.) Sunday at 10 AM, something posted Thursday at noon (2 days + 22 hours) shows as "2 days ago." But that was 3 days ago (in normal human usage).

This is the first time I've seen the reverse.

FTR, ESPN does have its own streaming option available (ESPN Unlimited) but it is $30/month.

The other (legal) option if you just need 1 or 2 games is to see if any of the streaming cable alternatives (YouTube TV, Fubo, Hulu+Live) has a free trial available.
