Weird, isn't it, these rules never seem to happen when it's left-wingers being dunked on π
Article: "Heartbreaking: the kink chat you were enjoying just made a 'no pawlitics uwu' rule to stop fascist apologists' feelings being hurt"
Kink is inherently political and, no, I will not shut the fuck up while you blindly act as the handmaidens of fascism. I'm going to call out shitty behaviour and missing steps and if that's "uncomfortable" then fuck off
We didn't know it'd be called the Wii at that point!
It's a very different Internet today and I don't really have any interesting points to make about that, only that almost every piece of my life today can be drawn back to that forum post in April 2006. I'd probably have found other routes in otherwise, but it's a real inflection point moment for me!
Still, from that forum I made friends, went to other websites, kept in touch, got MSN addresses, found the PokΓ©mon online community, found Minecraft, found 4chan (oof), found lifelong friends, ultimately made my way to the furry fandom where I am now.
The forums were killed off in June 2007 and Nintendo won't even allow them on Wayback machine, which sucks, but I can still remember how cringey my sentiments were at the time - I think I ended the post with "When the Revolution [Wii] comes, we will be the winners" cos I was 15 and passionate.
Twenty years ago today I sat down at the family computer and wrote a post to the Nintendo of Europe forums called "The people on my bus are stupid," I was being bullied for liking Nintendo in the console war.
It was arguably my first contribution to the Internet, and everything since draws from it
A group of furries and fursuiters at the base of Clifford's Tower in York
Thank you to everyone who came along to the York meet today, despite the wind!
If you enjoyed it, please consider donating at ko-fi.com/YorkFurs
Sergal in a battle jacket crouches behind some ferns while a blue tiger gazes on - miscellaneous fursuiters and photographers (and Clifford's Tower) in the background
We're back tomorrow from 12pm - 5pm @sparkyorkcic.bsky.social as ever! We have both spaces so there's plenty of room, and weather permitting we will have a fursuit walk!
Donate to help keep the meet free at ko-fi.com/YorkFurs
This year at @confuzzled.org.uk I'm running a panel about panels and how to pitch/run them. I'd like to be able to run it with some others who have run panel types I haven't.
If you're free at 1pm on Saturday of CFz and have experience running workshops, performances, gaming etc, please let me know

I am wearing too many hats, your argument is invalid

God Pleasure Beach is so good! Need to get back there some time soon!
I know one who *did* in the past but now uses she/they
So here for radical dragon inclusionism. Even things that look like dragons are dragons to me. Gatox? Dragon. Felkin? Dragon. Ferrin? Dragon. Weird dog? Dragon.

Weirdness gave us the HST, committee design gave us the IET, and I know which one I'd rather spend a long journey on
The railways are going to shit because we financialised the fuck out of them, shutting out the autistic folk who actually want to do this as a labour of love. Let them back in. Make railways weird again.
Did a workshop today about the new ticketing system they're building as part of Great British Railways.
My #1 suggestion? Unironically, hire more autistic furries. Let those people cook. Sure, a lot of them want in, but the businessy games we have to play are inherently hostile to the neurodiverse.
Oooh sounds very Ghibli!
Probably shared this before but it's because I absolutely adore this stretch of train track from Leigh-on-Sea to Chalkwell.
Whether the tide is in or out it's always stunning to me just how close the train is to the water. One of my favourite bits of rail in the country.
I'd argue he's "clothed" a lot of the time, just maybe not in what we'd consider conventional clothing :3
Then they're welcome to go to those events, tbh. It's just a whine
Also an aside - running a furry con you sadly *will* make enemies, it's unavoidable. Or any kind of event really. You can't please everyone - focus on winning over those you think you can!
What are people complaining about? I've been strongly considering FBL (it clashes with another event I'm running this year, sadly), it looks really neat!
