In 2018, a commissioner for a county under 55,000 popl made $48,974. In 2023, they made $57,873, while the mean wage for the whole state was $59,890. For counties over 55,000 population, the salaries range from: 2018: $61,215 for 55,001-95,000 to $101,953 for counties over 1 million 2028: $77,539 for 55,001-95,000 to $129,136 for counties over 1 million

AND they get paid a lot. BLS has the 2023 annual mean wage for Ohio at $59,890. Forty-six counties in Ohio have County Commissioners who make more than the annual mean wage for what looks to me like not much work.
