Man, when you compare the bravery of every day Minnesotans to the overpaid cops it’s astounding

Gil Duran tweet: TLDR: Fascism in response to Palantir's long fascists screed on X.
"Your Account is Suspended" Message on X
The CEO of Palantir posted a fascist manifesto on X.
I pointed out that it was fascist—which resulted in a permanent suspension from X (my second time!).
So, when you hear the tweeters complaining that BlueSky is intolerant, remember why many of us came here in the first place.
Absolutely incredible.
NASA Astronaut Reid Wiseman, who commanded Artemis II, took this footage from the far side of the Moon with his iPhone.
Watch with sound on.
Screenshot of a table. There is too much information in the table to fit within the character limit for this alt text. You can find the table in this reddit post where your screen reader will work nicely with it: https://www.reddit.com/r/murderbot/comments/1sp5s88/a_straightforward_guide_to_all_the_murderbot/
My friend is reading The Murderbot Diaries by @marthawells.com, which inspired me to finally make this guide to the series.
I'm pretty proud of this table. I tried really hard to make it easy to understand, since most sources for this information are pretty confusing.
And the LCARS displays still look good forty years later. I think the TOS designs looked dated back in the nineties, but the Okudas's work feels timeless. I doubt the current hologram and lens flare aesthetic will age as well.
The LCARS are I think, the best "future" computer interface ever developed. Yes, it's more what we have now than the 24th century (though that's because your Ipad and smartphone were inspired by Trek), but it actually looks practical and workable rather than just Cool.
Booker is criticizing one problem and not addressing the real issue. It's strawmanning and it won't change or solve anything.
I'm not defending it, but I think what is going on isn't abstention but apathy.
To me abstention is a positive decision to not engage with the system but voter apathy comes from an ennui due to lack of candidates who represent the public values it are will to fight for them.
The MAGA way. WaPo documents how Rep Cory Mills (R-FL) used overt political influence, including calls to Pam Bondi and Ed Martin, to avoid being arrested and prosecuted after he physically brutally assaulted a woman in Washington, DC. www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/202...
Trump posted an AI image of himself as Jesus and attacked the Pope.
He's now going to read a Bible passage for a Christian Nationalist event.
Faith or damage control? You decide.

“We know certain things to be true of men, family, violence, and power in this country.
We’ve all seen the darkly pointed memes of how the media treats regular white men who annihilate their entire families. “

*sigh*
1. That's not a direct quote. If you're going to put something in quotation marks and then go, "Wow. He just came right out and said it," it should be a direct quote.
2. This speech is from 2018. Don't present it as new/recent.
3. The actual content of the speech is bad enough.
Palantir put out the most cartoonishly evil statement possible. They’re so arrogant and self-confident they don’t seem to believe their fascistic plans can be opposed.
We must get rid of Palantir altogether.

Why is it that Democratic politicians are always doing this thing where they legitimize right-wing caricatures of Democrats?
Which Democrats are referring to people in prison as the "justice involved population?" That's just not a thing any elected official is saying.
Opening text of a thread by Palantir from X Because we get asked a lot. The Technological Republic, in brief. 1. Silicon Valley owes a moral debt to the country that made its rise possible. The engineering elite of Silicon Valley has an affirmative obligation to participate in the defense of the nation. 2. We must rebel against the tyranny of the apps. Is the iPhone our greatest creative if not crowning achievement as a civilization? The object has changed our lives, but it may also now be limiting and constraining our sense of the possible. 3. Free email is not enough. The decadence of a culture or civilization, and indeed its ruling class, will be forgiven only if that culture is capable of delivering economic growth and security for the public. 4. The limits of soft power, of soaring rhetoric alone, have been exposed. The ability of free and democratic societies to prevail requires something more than moral appeal. It requires hard power, and hard power in this century will be built on software.
Palantir put out a 22-point summary of their CEO's book The Technological Republic. It's pitched as a defence of the West, but if you read it through the VDA framework, verification, deliberation, accountability, what it's actually doing looks rather different.

I just think you should cover the statements of a known prolific liar differently than the statements of an honest person. Call me crazy.
Not sure how @atrupar.com does it. "Real" journalists have checked out for the weekend & he's continuing to document the madness of King Don. (& none of the madness will be reported anywhere else.)
Here’s Trump bragging about making the U.S. a country that no one wants to come to and many want to leave.
Even if you really really love a musical, why don't you play the overture?
This is literally what it's for: a musical summary to entertain the audience before the main event.
It is totally inconceivable to me that there are people just now finally realizing he’s a total charlatan after all this time and so much evidence, and yet here we are.
I think the appeal of this argument is it is somehow supposed to be more objective. Are you out aren't you sick is pretty binary and uncontroversial, at least in theory. So if they can show Trump is sick, his supporters will then agree with us and get rid of him.
It's all very naive.

Trump just publicly referred to the Strait of Hormuz as the “Strait of Iran.” Not only does this look like total capitulation from his administration but I am trying to imagine the GOP/Fox response if Joe Biden had said this.
NEW: Porsha Ngumezi and Nevaeh Crain died during miscarriages in Texas after doctors delayed treatment.
The state’s medical board has ruled that substandard care led to the deaths, but the doctors were given minimal punishment.

Once again, the right is openly admitting that the entire focus on trans youth is to ultimately ban all gender affirming care for adults.
All the credulous reporters and institutions that helped launder this right wing project are responsible.

Every single news story, headline & social post needs to be crystal clear that the the Strait of Hormuz has been closed for 47 days because of Donald Trump. It was open on Feb 27th and it closed because of Trump's reckless war.
My only friend in the world was my Boxer dog, Kokomo. He lived in a pen on the hill at the back ... excursion, we ran headlong into a wild boar. My dog stood nose-to-nose with that beast; I knew he’d die.
White House Faith Office Senior Advisor Paula White‑Cain on Trump's faith: "He can quote to you so many sermons. I mean, profound."
70% of Americans see through Trump’s “Christian” act.
And yet the conservatives who most loudly claim to care about faith keep insisting he's one of them.
That contradiction explains a lot.

Mostly great, but I really don't like a representative of the government declaring something to be blasphemous, or to even give that concept credence. Blasphemy is an antiquated idea that has only been used to stigmatize and subjugate people who think differently and should be abandoned.
