A digital painting of an ice cube, followed by several hands closed over each other with water pouring from them. Bold text on the art reads: "ICE MELTS".

Iβm usually so bad at taking my own advice, but Iβm gonna hang onto this one because I still feel this way. Art by itself wonβt save us by itself, but community can. And I think it will.
a photo of a set of wooden pins featuring birds inside of postage stamp borders. Includes an owl, crow, starling, swallow, falcon, and blue jay.

Work in progress of my latest oil painting. A blue purple landscape with yellow ponds. A single bird standing in the water.
Working on a small oil painting with texture. This colour yellow is my absolute favourite when the golden sky is reflected in the water π§‘π
Digital painting of a wooded path with steps leading upwards, strong sunlight casts dappled shadows. A black cat sits in a tree stump at the top of the steps
Dare ye cross the path of the dark prince? πββ¬

Some traditional plein air (and a study of Pride and Prejudice) from this yearβs Plein airpril. Strangely, I think my traditional studies end up way more successful than my digital. Perhaps because I had a more limited palette to work with?
Arched wood panel painting of tips and muna moth in a wild tangle. Painted with Acryla gouache.
I would have def fallen for the Tulip Mania if I lived in the 17th century. Tulips are colorful and wild and I love them so much. π·π·π·π·π·

Your reminder that 99.99% of the artists you interact with are sustained by a second job or spouse/family, and followers do not actually translate directly to dollars
Passion Tax is so real. I've never known an artist who wasn't just scraping by -- even the ones you think are successful. Even the ones working in studio.
It makes you feel like you're insane, fighting for scraps.
Trying to keep my painting skills sharp and really lean into the um tiny details
I am an adherent to the philosophy that all the best artists are perverts in some way, if not openly then privately. What is perversion if not having unchecked passion, the same passion that fuels artistry.
do people post comics here... anywho! a really old one!

I may not be a NSFW account, but this recent attack via payment processors should concern everyone, not just people who create/like adult content. I've RPed some ways to fight back, but also do yourself a favor and check out this thread. SO many incredible artists and they deserve love and support.

A painting of seagulls
Be a seagull. Be loud. Annoying. Cringe. Go for it. Fight those who are keeping out chips from us.
