"of course! I would love to visit you more often. just remind me to bring some lunch or dinner or something. I can't arrive empty handed," amy replied, gripping her fist in determination.

"tell me what you like and i'll make it for you. okay?"

"hamburger! let's go! we have some walking to do. I know exactly how to get there to the hamburger shop. station square isn't far from here."

amy could always use her teleportation device on her communicator, but walking was more fun! and scenic.

it wasn't a long ride. amy leaned forward and trained her optics on the horizon when more greenery became visible. trees dotted here and there in the distance until it became a proper jungle. the overhead PA system announced they were arriving shortly.

"almost there," amy mumbled.

"that's the spirit. sally's going to be very happy when she sees you! just don't mention her disappearance and everything should be fine," amy replied, adding that last part quietly.

sally didn't talk about what happened, and amy never asked questions. it was better that way.

"I agree. the doctor in every universe needs to be brought down a peg; and who better to do that than the freedom fighters," the pinkette declared, slamming her piko piko hammer into the nearest badnik.

the robot was smashed to pieces, though amy was impressed by regina's powers.

"nice work!"

plastering a smile on her face despite how horrible she feels for forcing tails to leave the comfort and safety of his workshop. amy /really/ could understand /why/ he did that, but she also knew how unhealthy it was. he needed time outside.

"yeah! i'll tell her we're on the way."

"i think you can leave your workshop for a /little/ bit, tails. it's been a few months. sally is /worried/ about you. . . . it's been hard, but we have to be strong. okay?"

leaving the reason behind their sadness hanging in the air between them. it was something amy didn't like bringing up.

the pinkette witnessed the destruction; and regina's power, but she still wasn't convinced that regina was somebody that could be trusted. amy rose nodded firmly and bashed her hammer into another badnik, watching it shatter to pieces.

"that is correct, though i do appreciate it."

"great! i can't wait to see the stars. i've /never/ been to angel island at night that i can remember. with the lack of light pollution, i bet the visibility is fantastic."

amy remembered something /her/ version of tails told her about how the more light, the less visible the stars.

"you've been secluding yourself for a while, and i was wondering where you were! sally /finally/ appeared after a month of missing; aren't you willing to leave the workshop and at least see sally," the pinkette inquired, trying not to sound too worried.

she /knew/ tails was struggling still.

quickly jumping onto the metal plate, the pinkette nodded at what charlie said before they were both teleported to amy's apartment; in the living room to be precise. the pinkette, clearly at home in her surroundings, moved towards the kitchen.

"would you like anything to eat," she inquired.

it had been a /while/ since amy and sally saw tails leave his workshop or engage with anybody else that wasn't a machine. the pinkette, clearly worried for his mental health, decided to visit.

"hey, tails! are you around," she called out, nudging the door to the workshop open with her shoulder.

the pinkette remained silent. her green optics were pointed out the train window, watching everything passing with interest despite the sights being familiar. the silence stretched on; only a few people in the train car were speaking in hushed tones. amy kept her hands in her lap.

"i don't trust others that easily; i don't know you, and i'm not about to get betrayed /again/ since i'm not from this universe. no offense, but i would rather not work with somebody i just met," the pinkette replied, twirling her hammer and slamming it into a nearby badnik.

the robot went flying.

"of course! i'd love to spend the night here! we can go camping and have a sleepover! i haven't been camping in so long. gemerl can watch cream while i'm here," the pinkette mused.

amy normally didn't leave for extended periods of time due to being the guardian to her universe's cream the rabbit.

"that sounds cool! sorry for misunderstanding prior. you should show me your art sometime! but, for now, let's go get that burger! the shop is in station square."

"yeah! you heard me, charlie! the corporate gods. we can't have /any/ fun, but i have more freedom since i'm from an AU."

"no. it's not the perfect world for /anybody/ and i wouldn't want to put all that trouble onto one person. i think working together is the best thing we can do," amy replied, but it didn't sound dismissive.

"my version of eggman is a lot more dangerous than any other version. . . i noticed."

". . . . the hero of mobius, sonic the hedgehog, is deceased. has been for years. eggman took control after that. we didn't have the strength to fight him off, and most of the freedom fighters were scattered in various directions. we're just /now/ getting back together."
