Same, I don’t really know what to expect. I’m loving the use of vernacular (the right word?) to show Lampo and Gelon as two very ordinary men. They’re weirdly recognisable and their friendship oddly relatable despite the book being set in the Peloponnesian Wars! The book feels smart but accessible.

Agreed, it’s completely genuine, nurturing and the heart of what is often a heartless tale

Fun fact: Tom Baker’s hat as the fourth Doctor in Doctor Who is the same hat as Indy’s. “The Poet” by Herbert Johnson of London. Wish I could somehow justify the $700 expense.
