Fritz Otto's cutaway springback ledger binding is done, the other one will be before lunch. Still springs too, even after covering. 😉 www.instagram.com/fritzottobuc...

Very much looking forward to it.

A question though, what if the #Voynich is "simply" a creative work of genius meant to confound scholars for the ages, a work of art like Serafini's Codex Seraphinianus? In the latter we know the intent, but could the idea have been the same? Just wondering ...

Some time ago I was given a package of Icelandic cod doggie chew snacks by a friend. Those chews looked gnarly, and I wondered if they could be processed into parchment or leather. Long story short, YES they can. Full illustrated report on my blog at

In the beginning, there was a library conservation lecture series. April 2nd marked the 20th event. A beautiful hand-crafted bone folder made by @shannaleinohandbuilt was selected. My part of the gift was a custom display stand and box.

Sanity is the playground of the unimaginative[, and overrated].

I wholeheartedly concur with this vibe.

Her contributions to the field were incredible - a real loss to the field and all who knew and worked with her.

Review | The Nazis loathed modern art. They launched a war against it. “Degenerate Art,” an exhibition at the Musée Picasso in Paris on the Nazis’ persecution of modern artists, is about culture wars and where they can lead.

Here's Fritz Otto folding endsheets. As a Stift (1st year) apprentice I spent days doing this until I could do it in my sleep. They would be trimmed to size with the books and then double-fan adhesive bound or tipped-on as part of a recasing. More from him at www.instagram.com/fritzottobuc...

Berlin’s Most Unsettling Memorial Two Berlin artists talk about their controversial memorial in Schöneberg’s Bavarian Quarter. on Slow Travel Berlin

On this Holocaust Memorial Day it is important to resist from the onset and not normalize cruelty... As one says in German, "wehret den Anfängen". If we learned from the past we can , we must do better.
