At 70, I'm trapped in my £850,000 family house - I can't sell it Maureen Evans, 70, wants to downsize and give some money to her children

Everything about this story makes me feel faintly stressed. 1) Just accept where the market is and sell your home for c£700k. 2) For god's sake don't move into a smaller home on two floors, why do you want to do this again in 15-20 years? If you can't find a bungalow, this is what flats are for!

Honestly I look at this tracker because looking back at the 2nd term it explains the results of the midterms and 2020 better than other approval polls TBVH.

Weirdly YouGov's job approval tracker shows him dipping but very stable:

Honestly it really annoys the hell out of me that "TACO" just used to handwave anything Trump is doing right now and ironically is making the situation worse, if Oil Price shoot to $200 to a barrel WW then it'd actually force The Donald's hand to avert $8 for a Gallon of Gasoline in the States.

Little known fact: if nobody will pay £850,000 for your house, it's not worth £850,000.

I think, genuinely, Starmer does just believe that the “wrong outcome” must mean “the wrong process was followed”, and therefore Robbins needed to be sacked. It wasn’t a “cynical but dumb” move, it was a “this worldview is highly unsuited to running a government” move.

the "dirty (disabled) poors" tend to eat "ultra processed" food so therefore we use it to blame their own failures on them than other factors. And we use the term to hide behind such classist (and ableist) views really.

I think there's just a ton of classism behind all of this. I mean sure ultra processed foods tends to be bad... because they way they tend to be done are with low margins and cost sensitivity in mind. Not because they are "processed". Even healthy bread is "ultra processed"! *But*...

Sure but "agree on a replacement" because there's MPs who either sceptical or dislike Streeting, Rayner or both. Big question is if a by-election in Mancs or Merseyside appear would NEC & No 10 try to block Burnham again...

I love how every poll, on every topic, illustrates why the tragedy pursued by Morgan McSweeney was incredibly, incredibly stupid.

My hot take he just resigned *because* he knows he'll be in the clear and able to return in a year or two's time.

(That said I find this whole saga right now extremely confusing :v).

Literally all of Labour’s scandals in office would have been avoided if they had genuinely modernised the party 2019-24, because they are all things that a modern workplace would go “sorry, you want to do what? Are you nuts?”

It’s a bad bit, most ethnic conflicts in history are between people Americans would consider the same “race”

My hometown of Halifax still has the 11+. Locals have to compete with kids from *miles* out of town, whose parents would otherwise send them to private school in Leeds, Bradford or elsewhere. They've all had tonnes of tutoring, too, as that's much cheaper than the fees potentially avoided.
