Police enforcement drives overdoses because people are pushed to use alone which increases the risk of a fatal overdose, and confiscating drugs makes people buy again (maybe not from a trusted source) thereby increasing their chances of being sold toxic drugs which increases their risk of OD.

The police said the preliminary investigation indicates the marijuana was contaminated with fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid that can be lethal even in small amounts.
Police in Rhode Island are saying someone died from fentanyl-laced cannabis based on preliminary drug testing done by the police, and I just want people to remember law enforcement is not qualified to perform drug testing or determine cause of death. It helps nobody to create unfounded drug panics.
