Once you build in that habit of just immediately going to an LLM when you don't get something it can be really hard to break, and you can get to a point where your response to any intellectual friction is to just open Claude and let it sort it out.

LLM's are especially insidious when it comes to learning. I'm doing a part time college course while working and the amount of my classmates who feed the majority of their work straight to an LLLM is insane to me. They don't really think about it themselves first, just straight to claude. 1/2
“A collapse would shift the tropical rainfall belt on which many millions of people rely to grow their food, plunge western Europe into extreme cold winters and summer droughts, and add 50–100cm to already rising sea levels around the Atlantic.” #ClimateEmergency www.theguardian.com/environment/...
Yea they have, but iirc they were just if x happens do y, which obviously didnt outperform the s&p 500. LLM's though are computer magic to alot of people, so they will see this and go "Claude is so smart it should do really well picking stocks!" and then pay for this shit.
They're making new personalized women for my youtube dot com front page
that all code changes from a junior now has to be manually reviewed and approved by a senior, if anything that is creating more work then before not less. Some industries have been changed forever by LLM's like copywriting, but I don't think it will have the advertised seismic impact. 2/2
Personally I don't agree with the AI taking all jobs narrative. If you look at software dev's, the majority of cases I have seen of companies hard forcing AI onto employees has gone terribly, like Amazon as an example. They had so many issues with ai code (from the llm they forced usage of) 1/2

"what's it like working in cybersecurity?"
Hopefully you are right and as american influence wanes the Irish government grows the courage to fight harder for positive concrete steps, and moves beyond general condemnations.
My core frustration is that the actual Irish people have been pro palestine forever, but especially in recent years with how dependent we have became on US tech, our government has been so slow to act on those desires, and has always been so cautious despite how horrific israel is.
It's so frustrating that the Irish government is slow walking a similar ban. Like the bill was proposed in 2018 and it still isn't actually live.
Few movements I can think of that are as idiotic and misguided as the Irish Fuel protests. Like shaking ones fist at a cloud.
A) the issue is global (markets) not national
B) last time I checked Ireland is a market economy not state price controlled
C) Govt cut excise duty on fuel.
D) worsens pain!
The "Charity begins at home" people are... *checks notes* abusing charitable people feeding homeless Irish people #spéirgorm
Yayyy mission successful! Welcome home Artemis ^-^
Despite the difficulties Muslim Sisters of Éire managed to feed those who needed their help tonight.
Only to be verbally abused by racist arseholes who are so stupid they can't conceive that Irish born and bred people can also be Muslim.

To be fair you did trolling for the love of the game, while ragebaiting in 2026 can feed a family of 4.
Yea that makes logical sense and matches my anecdotal experience talking to couples who WFH. Hopefully governments will pick up on that before they do more horrific anti abortion measures or just try and give ppl 5k for having a child. Sadly I am skeptical as managers/companies hate WFH :(
It is incredibly sociopathic, and is literally just viewing people as a statistic for them to get more power and influence. Everyday I learn something new about the US that makes me glad I didn't move there.

Only saw this now, just going to add it incase you haven't already seen it.
Office jobs can have miserable moments, and the lack of built in exercise can be really tough for some people to manage, but they are much, much, much more pleasant then doing actual hard manual labour outside for 10-12 hours a day.
Giving it a bit more thought, I guess the implication is that it's good for teenage girls to get pregnant as the man will be the "provider" anyway, and said man "can/should" be much older then the girl. The women's place in life doesn't matter that much to them, she is just a baby factory.
I don't disagree tbh, the reduction in teenage pregnancys across the western wold has been a huge positive but Fox news needs something to scare people with, while pushing a conservative world view, so I have to assume thats why they focus on it. Im not sure how conservative it is but 🤷
in the US it's hard to see migration being treated as a solution to anything, and then once you rule out migration, you can then use the fertility rate as an excuse to push anti-abortion measures and take further control of womens bodies from them.
The "logical" argument is that the US is currently below replacement fertility rate and that this could lead to a demographics crisis in the future, too many old people not enough young people. The easiest way to fix this atleast in the short term is migration, but with everything going on 1/2

Atlas, a mostly black pit bull/husky/german shepherd with a white blaze on his chest and white toes, sits nervously on a rug in a vet's office while waiting for his appointment. He has pit bull-type fur and german shephard facial structure (and ears), and is wearing a blue harness, collar, and leash.
Atlas was so big and brave going to the vet today for his checkup and he wants you to know if he can face his fears so can you
Believe it or not, this was peak AI summarization. This is basically AGI
